Sorry you've lost me now Do you mean the little spiky bit inside the connectors?
Ignore the grease (not needed for indoor connections)
Blimey - I'm not touching all that. I guess I'll have to leave it to the engineer tomorrow. Thanks for posting the link though
Before the 'engineer' leaves display the signal on say BBC HD to check it says quality is Excellent.
okay, will do
I'm worried now he's going to come out and charge me all over again even though he should have got it all working last week. My husband reckons it's the connectors outside that may be at fault but he can't speak so couldn't tell the engineer last week what should have been checked.
Should I text the engineer before he comes out and say I'm not willing to pay another call out fee or see what happens when he gets here?
I suspect that if you text him that he will cancel the call on the basis that until he sees what the problem is he won't know if it (or part of it) is chargeable.
I would argue after he has fixed it. If he needs to replace cable, for example, he would expect to be paid for the cable and perhaps time. I would not pay any call out or minimum fee.
Good Luck.
He's been out and didn't charge me anything. He's changed the lnb again and the connectors outside. He said the next step would be to change the cable. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

What signal strength and quality do you get while tuned to BBC1-HD ?
It says good on both tuners.
