Some of you might have spotted the sub forum name changes I made earlier in readiness...

For details of this new unit, available from October see:

    https://uk.humaxdigital.com/product/fvp-5000t/

Any questions, ask in this thread, if I do not know the answer, I'll try and find out.

Edit: Thread will remain 'stuck' to top of Forum until stock arrives in UK. now in stock at Humax Direct see post #33 for details

The comparison tool on the Humax site doesn't appear to be working.

What are the main differences between this and the 4000T?

Hardware....if you have original 4000T then just the casing, and LED indicator.

    Software:

On Demand button (or via FP button) displays 'Top Picks' with user selectable options of:

On Demand, Recordings, On Now with sub section options as follows:

    On Demand - Genres
Recordings - Recently added, Continue Watching
On Now - User can select 9 channels to display.

FP button - Options now listed at top of screen:

TV Guide, Players, Top Picks, Recordings, Media, Settings

Recordings - can now be viewed as Grid (tiles - as per 4000T) or a List.

Settings - On screen display transparency can be set on/off.

New style iplate accessible by pressing OK on remote.

Info on current live channel can be viewed in Guide without unit changing channel, by pressing OK button.

    Edit:

Search history - Up to 10 recent searches are saved.

All I can think of for now, more later if I have missed anything.

Barry, am I correct in thinking that the FVP-4000T wifi was only 2.4ghz? One of the on-line 'reviews' today claimed that the FVP-5000T was also 5ghz.

With thanks to Humax Towers Technical Manager for prompt response to my query:

    Luke,

4000T/5000T has IEEE 802.11b/g/n dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz support.

    Thanks for the info Barry.

I'm annoyed that something I asked Humax for almost two years ago, the ability to see recordings in a list without those useless screen grabs, is included in a new product but was never incorporated into a software update on the original.

LED Display- 2 colour (red in recording, blue operation, red in standby)

Why do Humax insist on using red for both recording and standby?

When I was updating my 2000T the other day, I noticed the light at the front went purple when doing the software install.

Surely it's not beyond capability to use purple as the recording colour instead of red?

The LED is purple during recording on the FVP 5000T, I'll highlight error on website to Humax Towers.
