Can any one recommend a UK site where I can buy a replacement HDD for a HDR1100s. Old one is a Seagate Video 3.5 serial number ST500MV000

    Try Amazon
    https://blusas.co.uk/mho.php?loc=https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Pipeline-Internal-3-5-Inch-300-Mbit/dp/B002H9XB4O/ref=sr_1_7?crid=MYZDSOP1I95L&tag=blusas008-21&keywords=segate+pipeline+st500MV&qid=1641365419&sprefix=segate+pipeline+st500mv%2Caps%2C82&sr=8-7

I am sorry but I have my doubts about the wisdom of using what is clearly a second hand drive with the SMART data wiped. I personally have wasted too much time with this type of drive. I would suggest getting a Seagate Skyhawk from a reputable seller.

If you look at the sidebar for other vendors the drive is described as new.
It is also an "Amazon's Choice". Why do you suspect that it is not?

The price, the fact that they have been our of production for several years, a general suspicion of sellers on Amazon Marketplace. Try reading this article if you think the Amazon Choice label is a recommendation of quality https://www.theguardian.com/money/2020/feb/06/amazon-choice-label-is-being-gamed-to-promote-poor-products#

I assumed that the sellers had bought of of production surplus stock. Unless the item arrives in origional selected anti-static protection I would send it back.

I would suggest looking at the date of manufacture which should be shown on the label on the hard drive.

As a matter of interest, did you have a look at the date of manufacture shown on the label on the hard drive?
