"New software for the HDR 1000S
    Options
    18-12-2012 11:25 AM

Wanted to give you guys an early heads up that Humax will be releasing new software (version 1.00.16) for the HDR-1000S via OAD (over air download) containing general improvements to the <free time> service, and fixes for the some of the reported recording bugs.

Boxes will automatically pick up the new software when left in standby."

    Great news,

    Just updated successfully.
Does anyone know what changes they have made? I quickly checked if a DNLA server was available for streaming from the 1000s to my AV receiver. Regretably it is not yet present.

I noted the BBC I player does not jitter on start up anymore. However it seems to takes a little longer to load. Suspect a delay to fill the disk cache.

    Good Day All.
I have just downloaded and installed UKSFAA 1.00.16 dated 03 DEC 2012. This update was downloaded via the internet. I have only looked at the On Demand page as a bellwether of any changes, 4OD and DEMAND 5 are still "Coming Soon." I have done a reboot from standby and after my HDR 1000S 1TB as been isolated from the mains, no difference.
I'll leave it to others to perform a forensic inspection and post their critique; this is by way of a heads-up

Still crashes when connecting to media server, aspect ratio on USB media video playback still screwed. Do we get paid for beta testing this ? Am very disappointed with this unit so far.

    Good Day All.
Further to firmware update 1.00.16 03Dec12, I've done a quick "walk-through" and have come up with the following.
    1. YouTube is still unavailable.
    2. Slow motion is still unavailable.
    3. HD iPlayer now buffers for 15secs, plays 15 secs and so on.
This is when using Cat 5 Ethernet and 4500kbps line speed.
    4. Sound buffering with full screen text graphics still apparent
and buffering error message can still be induced but this
passes and sound settles down; partial improvement.
    5. Still no screen saver when using radio tuner.
    6. Date and time when recordings made still not posted.
Now, what have I missed, this firmware update looks like window-
    dressing?
Admittedly I've only looked at deficiencies that have annoyed me and others could find that there ARE improvements, I do hope that this is the case!

    Good Day All.
Others have commented that Humax have removed the alternative
equipment from the remote control that is supplied with the
HDR 1000S. The most likely reason for this is cost cutting, I do hope that this hasn't been extended to the HDR 1000S itself and we are dealing with a turkey that can't be updated to get rid of its bugs.
OK all speculation but current indications aren't positive.

John what do you mean by:

    Humax have removed the alternative
    equipment from the remote control
    ?
