So Humax are exchanging the unit later this week. Slightly disappointed that I get a refurbished model as a replacement but we'll see how that one fares. I'm less than 6 months into owning it so any more problems will be reported straight away. So very frustrating when the problem appears to be down to a software update!

Why are you not going through JL?

Are JL wiping there hands of it because it has had a software update?

Since this update, I'm having a few new 'issues'.

    1. When flicking through the channels using the channel up and down buttons, the information in the top right that displays the channel shows the right channel but the wrong program.

Instead of displaying what is being broadcast on the channel I switched to, it displays the program that was on the previous channel. So if I'm on ITV with Coronation street and channel up to Channel 4, it will display "Channel 4 - Coronation street."

It might not look like a big issue, but I got the box to replace sky, and my elderly relatives are having trouble with the way they use it.

    2. As has been said before, videos on the media player are in a totally random order that changes every time I go into it - not alphabetical as they were before the update - so I can no longer put one episode of a series on and let it just play the next episode, as I would before.

    3. I've started getting the no signal message on lots of channels, and this is only cleared on powering it off and back on at the wall.

Does anyone else have the same as my problem 1?

    Re problem 1.

Have you changed the on screen Info Display Time?

Known issue reported to Humax Towers if set to below 5 secs.

I haven't, but will do that now, thank-you. It makes sense as I had to do a full reset to be able to update to the latest firmware, and haven't re-changed the settings.

A little update from me re the unit locking up with no picture when coming out of standby.

Always seems to be in the afternoon either while recording from Channel 5 or soon after. We watch TV in the evening and have never had an issue.

If it locks while recording, the recording still finishes ok (unless we pull the power on the box, obviously).

I've switched from wireless networking to a cable and that made no difference.

Last night I swapped a chunky (professional type) HDMI cable for a cheaper, thinner one to see if that makes a difference, we shall see.

When I phoned Humax they suggested trying a different HDMI port on the TV, that's my next move after I've done the testing I want to do.

Re picture stuttering / freezing / remote inop - 'WORKAROUND'
    (raised here 24 May, P.10)

In case it helps anyone else - I had an email response from Humax Support, advising me to switch off the Network Server (in 'Network Settings' menu).

This done, the unit has run perfectly for over two hours now.

Well just to add my moan
Had the same problem as some others on the forum post the upgrade. The only way to keep it switched off is to pull the plug, else it just starts and freezes like other members have noted. Suddenly having the to come on in the middle of the night is no fun.

On calling them, they now recognise that there is a problem, but no info as to when a fix may come out. Surely I do not have to return the product to get a fix?

They must know from their own info who has this model, and it cannot be beyond them to send an email out saying we know of a problem and this is what we are doing about it.. Customer service I believe it's called!

Latest bulletin on the picture stutter/box freeze issue following the disastrous software update reported p9 22/5...

Stutter/box freeze hasn't happened again since I did a factory reset and format (I also switched off Network Server yesterday, as recommended in Gwaihir's post above).

However, now whenever a recording starts there's a loud 'phut' sound, and while the picture continues the sound goes dead, requiring a box reboot to get it going again. Wtf?!

I had previously been happy with my box. Really pathetic software implementation from Humax. Don't they test these things at all?

P.S. the box still won't boot from standby if it's recording, the issue this update was meant to fix.

Yet another update on the catalogue of blips and burps following the software update. Recording now starts without the sound going dead. No idea why. I didn't adjust any other settings or turn it off at the mains.

However, if I use the Netflix app, when I return to live TV - the sound goes dead. A reboot gets it going again, which is obviously not an ideal situation if I'm recording something.

    Dear oh dear.
