Try a new HDMI cable and/or a different port on the TV. Any HD TV should work OK with 1080i. Even the oldest HD-Ready TV's.

So what v-format option works ?

    None of which are ideal.

The source is 10801 so 1080i is the same setting as source. Even at 720 you are scaling down from 1920 x 1080 to 1280 x 720 and then letting the TV rescale it back to 1920 x 1080 (assuming you have a FULL-HD TV). Also the epg overlay will be at a much reduced resolution.

Have you got a 2nd TV you can try the Foxsat on ?

Graham, older "HD ready" tv's didn't all support 1080i. My old Sony (before I got the LG) being a prime example but I can't for the life of me remember the model number. It was however, around ten years ago, at the time their top of the range HD ready TV but was 1366x768 and would do exactly as the OP is experiencing whenever I tried to view 1080i.

1080i support was mandated in the original HD Ready spec. That doesn't mean you have 1:1 source pixel to display. A 1920 x 1080 16:9 display. The usual 1366 x 768 display has rectangular pixels wider than high. (so called anamorphic).

You still get a full screen picture though not of course with 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Look at the table here. I had a 47" Sony with such a spec that worked just fine with the Foxsat-HDR I still have. In fact a friend is still using the TV.

As all satellite transmissions have always been 1080i you would not have been able to view them at all. The original BBC-HD test transmissions were very high bitrate 1920 x 1440 pixels. It's only relatively recently that all HD satelite sources are now 1080i 1920 x 1080 rather than 1080 x 1440.

There must have been something wrong with your setup Some boxes had a source option that simply passed the 1080i source as is, leaving the TV to scale where requred. Your TV should have simply rescaled a 1080i source to 1366 x 768 pixels.
