Sorry Selector. Didn't realise your box is a HB-1100S as woodbutcher said use the link for the HB-1100S. But it's strange the instructions says to hold down the channel button if your box doesn't have buttons. I would contact Humax telling them there instructions are not correct.

Woodbutcher I'm pleased you have fixed your hd. If it goes again spray the cable and sockets with electrical contact cleaner.

@Selector. I just googled the missing button issue. It appears that on the Humax site where it says use the channel button it really means use the power button so the rest of the instructions should be fine. I hope it works for you.

Thanks again for the help ... I have been using the HB 1100s link but I will try the power button trick instead and see how we go ! I have also emailed Humax support but as yet no reply ....

Ok, a development of sorts !
First I found a section on my box that tells me the software version and it seems it is already the most recent version (may 22) with the iplayer fix.
And Secondly I had a reply from Humax “Thank you for contacting Humax.

We received a reply from BBC stating that as BBC continues to update their application, older devices are unable to update to a newer version (like yours, for instance).
Ultimately, this means that these older devices are not going to be able to support the newer version of BBC iPlayer, so there's nothing more you can do aside from purchasing a newer device, as this was a decision made by BBC themselves.”

So for me that’s that with the iplayer and my Humax !
    Thanks for all the help

Thats a shame, I think BBC should continue to support older boxes. My box is from 2018 and it wouldnt work on BBC iplayer even though I had the latest 2022 version. After reinstalling the 2022 version it worked fine, maybe it was just a fluke I dont know. If you havnt already done so maybe you should try reinstalling the firmware just in case. How old is your box?

I dont actually know how old it is, it was second hand when I got it !
Maybe the HB1100s is older internally than the HDR1100 ?
I do slightly object to the BBC making my box obsolete when Netflix et al can seem to provide a perfectly good service that still works - especially when you consider the BBC is payed for with our money !!

Yes BBC could make more effort and they should start running ads like everyone else and get rid of the antiquated TV Licence.

Interesting info on certified Humax boxes.

Looking at the list the HB model was certified in 2013.

That’s interesting! I notice it says “until 30th October” - that’s obviously BBC saying it’s not going to work after then …. Gonna have to investigate another box.
