And it seems to have fixed all my annoyances.

    Hi all

I'm still have boot problems while the HDMI is plugged in, having to physically unplug it so that the HDR1000s boot's up, this is even after flashing to the 3.00.20 update

So either I unplug the cable each time or run the decoder using a scart,

    Any ideas ?

Try turning off HDMI-CEC on your TV.

Trade names for CEC are Anynet+ (Samsung), Aquos Link (Sharp), BRAVIA Link and BRAVIA Sync (Sony), HDMI-CEC (Hitachi), E-link (AOC), Kuro Link (Pioneer), INlink (Insignia), CE-Link and Regza Link (Toshiba), RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) (Onkyo), RuncoLink (Runco International), SimpLink (LG), T-Link (ITT), HDAVI Control, EZ-Sync, VIERA Link (Panasonic), EasyLink (Philips), and NetCommand for HDMI (Mitsubishi).

Try turning off HDMI-CEC on your TV

This seems to have worked a treat

Did this and so far it boots correctly every time

    Many thanks for this tip

I just hope that Humax reads these posts and learns that their latest update has not cured all the problems

On many TV Brands and Models it works fine.
Even differnt models from within the same brand can vary.
It would seem that the different boot times of both both devices can be important. My Philips smart TV takes a while and I guess it can miss the wakeup.

The other complexity is which unit is waking the other.

Since the 3.00.18 firmware was rolled out in December we've been having problems with video files via townky being played back 'stretched' so that any black bars in films are no longer shown. Obviously this distorts images and is unpleasant to watch - does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix? I have tried playing with the various picture settings on the box and the TV (old 32" Bravia LCD) but to no avail. I will happily roll back to a previous firmware prior to 3.00.20 if anyone can tell me how.
    Thanks!

I still haven't received the update - is there somewhere that I can download it to USB drive?

    Thanks
