    Hi,

I have a HDR 1000S and I can set up a recording (it shows on the planner), but it does not seem to actually record (i.e. it does not show after the recording has stopped). I have reset the recorder and formatted the disk (done successfully, but lost all of my old programmes :-(). The recorder can still detect the hard disk via the settings, but nothing I seem to do actually makes it save a recording. can anyone help.

    Thanks

    Nick

    Hi welcome to our forum.

Can you pause live TV ?

Watch a programme for 10 mins, press the instant record button (Red with a R on it). You should see a message at the top of the screen. Press recordings, most recent. Is the programme shown on the list ?

Set a recording due to start shortly from the epg using OK. Just before it's due to start, bring up recordings, most recent. It should pop into the list. If you select and press OK and choose to play it should playback as the programme records (chasing playback).

    Hi - many thank!

No - that does not seem to work either. I suspect a hard disk failure, but the system detects the disk and is happy to format it!

When you select a programme in the epg you should press OK .

This won't work if the programme has already started.

Then follow the prompts - series - one off - watch, alternate HD etc.

Boot up the box about 10 mins before a programme has started. About 5 mins after the programme has started press the record button. You should see a message on screen saying a recording has started. Bring up the recordings list, you should find a recording in progress which started when the programme did and will continue to the programme end. You can view this recording in chasing playback as you can any current recording.

tried it, didn't do anything, I have put my other box back in now a Humax HDR which is twice as old as the HDR1000s and still works a treat, and records seamlessly. I have tried 4 different hard drives and the all show up but none will record? I am using a usb hard drive, as whilst changing the HDD I dropped the hard drive power cable and my dog decided to eat it, it was destroyed. it was recording fine using the usb drive, but it just stopped last week?? I am usingh usb 3 drives.

The only G2 Humax boxes that can record to a usb drive is the single tuner HB-1000S/HB-1100-S.

Usb recording is not and never has been possible with the HDR-1000S/HDR-1010s and HDR-1100S.

Why not replace the hard drive power cable ? . I think it may be a standard sata power cable.

    this might fit

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bolongking-6-Inch-2xSATA-Female-Splitter/dp/B07P5MX3Z6/ref=sr_1_15?ascsubtag=1ba00-01000-a0027-win10-other-nomod-uk000-pcomp-feature-scomp-wm-5&keywords=sata+power+cable&qid=1568805319&sr=8-15.

Anyone with a broken G2 box they can get the drive power cable from ?

I have tried to get a replacement cable it isn't a standard data cable unfortunately, the plug going into the board is white rectangular 4 round pins. Approx 1cm by 4mm Thanks for the info, I will keep trying to find a cable.

    Kind regards
