OK the unit is now driving my wife nuts. It keeps rebooting / restarting - randomly. Around 4 or 5 times when she was trying to watch catchup 4 TV on the app the other night. Her going nuts makes it's way down to me! Then it can be fine for days.

I found Download/Crash_Reports directory via the FTP service. It doesnt seem to have files for the last few days of reboots. But the 9th April there were 4 files. I guess these are just app crashes rather than system crashes.

Content isnt of too much use - it contains a Java stacktrace and some Googling does seem to lead to an upgrade in the Android subsystem might resolve it. But as we know there isnt any notion of s/w upgrade any time soon.

    at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:764)

Rub salt in, the FTP service seems to just halt after a while and the sysem needs a restart to get it going again.

I had restarting issues in the early days, but once they got rid of COM5 I did a full reset and it has never restarted since and that is months and months ago.

You can back up all your settings and restore them afterwards, but I decided to just start fresh so I knew I hadn’t imported something that was causing an issue.

It may be a PITA, but it worked for me and my Aura is working without issues.

From my experience, deleting the list of scheduled recordings and doing a full rescan of the freeview channels can solve restart issues.

..... the early days, but once they got rid of COM5......

Have to correct myself here, it was COM7 that was removed, not COM5

Just looked it up and that was 30th June 2022, so that's how long my Aura has been stable with no restarts.

Interesting. I receive from a local transmitter (Chesterfield) that didn't provide COM7 which may partially explain why my Aura has been more stable than other people's boxes.

I appreciate that I'll have to do my recording list again.

You will not lose your recordings, that is a separate step.

It will tell you what will be deleted and confirms your recordings will be saved.

It might help to confirm which reset you are talking about as there is more than one.

Even a full reset will not delete your recordings, you have to select that option and it shows when recordings will be deleted.

I have done a full reset several times in the early days which includes all apps and settings and have never lost my recordings.
