its still there as an option on mine but when selected actually changes to 576 so produces a far worse picture - 1080p setting still the best.

Same here - 1080p gives the best picture on my 40" Samsung UHD TV

You would have even better quality if only Humax would reinstate the 2160p option which was taken away with the first software update.

The 2160p options is still listed on my FVP-4000T, but gives a poor picture so I presume it's not working correctly. Latest version of the software is installed (.049)Then again, I think a £1000+ TV will do a better job of upscaling transmitted HD output than a £200 PVR...

From what I remember from a post somewhere. The 2160p resolution setting was only to make the GUI look better on 4K ultra TVs. Not to actually make the resolution of the transmission upscaled. Can't remember where I read it. But i did read that.

When the 2160p resolution worked up until the first software update, the picture quality was really good on a 4K TV. For some unknown reason Humax screwed it up.

That would be down to your TV, others with different TV's may well find the opposite. You would normally expect a top quality 4K TV to have a superior scaler than the relatively cheap set top box. Though the bit about the epg is valid, try looking at the epg with the box outputting 576i compared to 1080p/i

All I can say is my eyes were looking at my 4K tv with the Humax set at 2160p,and the picture quality was superior to the box set at 1080p. Just wish a software update would reinstate it. Of course if I set the box at 576i the epg will be inferior.

I just tried this with my 4k tv.

When the humax is set to 2160p output, if I press INFO on my tv it actually states it's being fed 720x576p 50p

That'll be why it looks rubbish then!

1080p looks good upscaled by the tv, better than the tv's built in freeview HD.

    (Tv is a Samsung 43ku6000)
