    Hi,

All SD channels work on my HD-1100S, some of the HD channels work and some do not.

Both the signal strength and quality on everything that works is good.

    I live in Watford, Herts.

ITV1 HD, BBC2 HD do not work.

    CH5 HD does work.

I've fitted amplifier boosters on both input cables which did help a bit (I think).

I've reset and retuned several times. The box is approx 5 years old.

    Any ideas please ?

Examine satellite cable ends at dish end for water ingress. Check cable is copper core and not steel core which can rust following water ingress.

Thanks - the dish is only 3 months old (with new LNB) and the cables were all updated at that time. The problem has been around since before the dish was changed.

I can't quite grasp why CH5 HD works and the others don't. If it was all HD channels that didn't work, that would make more sense but why just CH5 ?

CH5 HD is on frequency 110964MHz H. Can you get BBC4 HD which is also a Horizontal polarisation? If not have a look at https://en.satexpat.com/tv/uk/freesat/ and see if you can get any horizontally polarised channels.

Self install dish and cables or professional?
The latter call installer back under guarantee.

Self install:: Dish size? Zone 1? Consider Zone 2 for more gain.
Cable make and type? Plus length?
    {e.g. Webro WF65 is all copper type but has a max length of 20m before signals have issues.}

Your issues have all the hallmarks of poor alignment and/or cable losses.

C5HD uses DVB-S QPSK vs DVB-S2 8PSK for BBC and ITV HD channels which might require fewer received errors to decode - but correct dish alignment (including skew) should ensure that. Especially in Watford.

Assuming no dish obstructions from trees / other buildings / scaffolding etc.,.

Thanks for the advice so far.

Yes CH4 HD does work so it looks like HD channels that have horizontal polarisation do work but those with vertical polarisation do not work.

But the SD channels with vertical polarisation do work.

    Next steps ?
