I had my HPV-4000T for about a week,
and one of the issues I have is also with switching on.
I Hope they will fix this at some point.

I find if I switch it off, before I go to bed, then try to switch on, the next day, from the Remote Control, the channel number appears briefly, then it seem to switch itself back off again.

Switching on using the button on top of the box works better, but still takes a few goes sometimes.

For the moment, I usually don't switch it off, but this issue needs to be sorted.

To me that doesn't sound like the problem that most people on this thread are describing. I would ring (not email) Humax technical support to discuss the problem with them and explore the possibility of getting the box replaced.

This may sound daft, but do not press the standby button on remote for to long as unit will cycle on/off

That might be part of the problem.
Thing is, how do you know when you have pressed for long enough.

It might be that I'm pressing for too long, as my previous PVR was pretty slow, and I often had to press red button for quite a long time to wake it up.

Not sure if my Humax responded to a short press. Perhaps I should try it again.

EDIT: No problem when switching off for just a few seconds.
But perhap I should try switching off overnight.

See FVP 4000T trial to test a new software release.
