VERY slow startup and slow performance

    They should provide an option to prevent the box going into standby.

    They do, don't press the off button

    Really? I was under the impression the box would drift off to sleep if not used for a couple of hours or so.

    Really? I was under the impression the box would drift off to sleep if not used for a couple of hours or so.

    Yeah as default it turns off after 3 hours of inactivity, but you can turn that off in the settings menu.

    And the time shift buffer file getting thrashed 24/7, just to save a few seconds on boot.

    I can imagine a certain poster complaining that his hard disk is having problems a month or two after the warranty expires and trying to explain it's not the result of the same area of the hard disk being constantly written 24/7.

    Sorry I just don't get this thread, how many of us have PC's that can boot in around 35 seconds from being shut down ?

    Because many coming to the Humax Freetime boxes from other PVRs are puzzled by the long bootup in comparison. I bought my box over a year ago coming from a crappy Segam box It booted up to a picture in about 3 seconds, hence the confusion and dislike by some of the Freetime box's long bootup.
