    Hi,

Yes I do turn off my box, TV and router at the mains every night before I go to bed and have had no showcase or on demand when I turn them all back on in the mornings.

HOWEVER...after reading that someone pulled the plug out completely and then plugged back in and re-booted and it worked, I thought I would do the same just to see if it worked and OMG ! yes it did :O)

I just unplugged my box and TV for about 30 seconds, then re-booted and the Showcase and On Demand is back on and working.

Maybe switching it off using the plug switch is not enough and there is some residual current going into the box which is keeping some error info on a memory chip or something ?

Perhaps we should ask is anyone not now getting full catch up and Showcase recommendations ?

I'm not. What should I be trying?

Wait until no recording is in progress and unplug the box for 10 seconds or so.

Still no Showcase, still no On Demand, still unimpressed.

Have you got a smartphone? If so then if you download the Freesat app you should be able to launch the On Demand players via that and also see what's on Showcase.
Not ideal, but good enough until this issue gets resolved.

You could try a reset next, and if still no joy go into network connections and try to "Connect automatically".

If no luck, contact Freesat as per the notice on their website:

We have made some changes to our infrastructure to try and resolve the ongoing issue, if you are still experiencing issues, please can you email customerteam@freesat.co.uk with the following information:

What software version you are running - you can find this by going to: Home -> Settings -> System information -> General info -> Software version

What type of router you are using

Thanks for your patience while we attempt to resolve this issue. Sorry for any inconvenience

In the meantime, as Gonzo says, the app is your friend.

I've done all of the above. Still no joy.

When did you email Freesat? If it was a few days ago, then, since some users reported sudden renaissance yesterday, it's worth writing to Freesat again to let them know that not all units have revived.

The more information they have about which boxes are still suffering, the quicker the resolution.

Well last night I completely unplugged my box, waited 30sec and plugged back in and the showcase and on demand was working again.

However this morning when I turned on my TV there was no showcase or on demand so I unplugged it again but this time there was no joy, no showcase or on demand so now I'm back to square one :O(

    EDIT:

Strange... The only thing I did different this time compared to last night was that I didn't unplug my TV as well as my box so I thought I would try it again only this time unplug both TV and BOX and this time I got the showcase and on demand back working.

I am going to switch off at the mains like I do every night and see if I loose showcase/on demand and test this to see if it was just a coincidence

So email Freesat and tell them exactly what happened, with times if possible. If they were tinkering last night, it will help if they know that your box temporarily responded.

I have also been turning my TV and box off via my mains switch like I do every night but at the moment after turning them back on I still have my showcase/on demand services.

So it looks like a cold re-boot has brought back the service for today but I will see if I loose it again over time or over night when my TV and box are switched off.

Maybe with my first cold re-boot I didn't unplug my box for long enough because I can't see why un-plugging my TV as well would make a difference.

Do you have CEC control enabled on the TV ? (Wondering if there's some unwanted interaction).
