Has padding recordings not working been reported/fixed? I record a program on CBS Justice overnight and it says it's 45 minutes long and the end is cut-off, so I set padding at 5 minutes to add to the end and it still only records 45 minutes and misses the end.
    Cheers

I think that's to do with CBS Justice not sending the recording "flags" out at the right time.
I had this on the HDR-1000S when recording "The Fugitive" before Christmas, where the ending would be cut off daily.
It got so bad, I ended up manually setting the recording for over an hour to make sure the full episode was captured.
It would be handy (perhaps a suggestion for a future update?) if the Aura timer setting could be overridden for individual programmes within the "schedule" part of the recordings menu as a belt & braces to make sure.
Some broadcasters seem to be better than others for sending accurate recording flags.
ITV also went through similar a few Years ago for a while, which was ruddy annoying when you got to 55 minutes into an hours drama & the end cut off

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes it is CBS Justice' fault, but I thought the idea of the padding was to over-ride them ending the recording and add a few minutes?

It should work if you've set it to pad for x minutes in "Record & Share".
If it's on Auto (beginning & end), the Aura will go by the broadcasters flags by default & stick with it.
I don't think theres any way of adjusting the default for individual programmes, though with the different betas I might have missed it!
As far as I know its all or nothing, every recording to pad for x amount of minutes (beginning or end), but it might help in the case of CBS Justice if you've set them separately.
That's why it might be handy in having an override in the timer schedule.
Or alternatively, getting in touch with CBS via Twitter might be an option?

Thats what i did in Record and Share, I set it at 5 mins extra to the ending for everything rather than auto, but it isn't adding the 5 minutes.

In that case I think it's another job for Barry & Humax Towers, Shaun

Padding a recording cannot possibly work if a recording starts much later than scheduled. The box looks at the scheduled time and adjusts it so it wakes up at that time. As the actual start is a future event how long do want it to wait for a programme which may not even be transmitted.

From what I understood from Shaun's later post though Graham, he was reporting he'd set the padding from Auto to a manual setting of 5 minutes before & 5 minutes after the scheduled programme in "Record & Share" and the box wasn't responding to the command.

So instead of Shaun's box recording on his own setting of 5 mins before and 5 mins after, (for example) the box recorded a prog of 1 hour duration when it should've been 1 hour 10 minutes as per his revised setting, which is why I suggested reporting it.

Perhaps Shaun could confirm if this is the case?

Thanks for the tip about "Add recording" though Graham, which I hadn't seen.

What I don't know is if the box checks for a schedule change after the original setting.

Does the recording specify the actual date and time it recorded and the actual start and end times ? I have never used padding as it creates more problems than it solves.

Had previously been having ‘update problems’ in that the ‘hams’ message would indicate an available update and upon clicking through to the update screen would not work and crash back to the home screen.

Having realised that this was because updates wouldn’t work if the app was being used (typically if you’re recording a programme) the last two beta updates have worked fine (waited until there was no activity).

This time, however, the update service interrupted a scheduled recording causing it to fail due to ‘power cut’ (presumably from the Freeview app restarting).

Not sure if this is a fluke or an actual change in behaviour...

Not necessarily just to do with the Beta, however I've reset my unit this morning (due to another issue I was trying to resolve), however when it gets to the remote control pairing screen, the remote control will not pair and the unit doesn't respond to the remote control in any way, including pressing yellow for skip or the standby/power button on the remote, but does respond to the button on the STB.

I've tried shutting down, pulling the power and restarting, but then end up with what is obviously some kind of troubleshooting/maintenance screen that tells me to use the remote buttons to select a menu item, but I can't as it still won't respond.

One thing to note is that I had changed the remote code set to avoid a clash with a Humax YouView STB, so my guess is that the remote is still programmed to the new code set, but the STB isn't looking for/responding to that. Is the remote still able to have the code set changed without the STB GUI doing it, if so, what are the steps so I can change it back (presumably to code set 1) so that I can actually use the unit again.

    Thanks in advance.

From the user manual page 8

    Remote Control Reset

To clear all the settings on the remote control, you can reset the remote control to the factory default settings.

    1. Direct the remote control to your box.

    2. Press the Power and RED buttons at the same time for 5 seconds until the red LED blinks three times. All the settings will be reset.

    3. With the default settings, the remote control will operate in IR mode.

Note: I'll add this to Aura FAQ's - Done

Thanks for the speedy response. I had also managed to resolve my issue just before your reply, so apologies.

As it happens, I tried to use the remote code set change that the other units use (press and hold 0 and i for 5 seconds). It didn’t being a message on screen, but the LED stayed lit on the remote and I just pressed 1. After that it worked fine.

I’m still a bit perplexed as to how it can’t/won’t pair over Bluetooth based on the remote code set though, as surely that shouldn’t affect Bluetooth. Not sure if it’s possible, but maybe the Bluetooth pairing could pair the remote to the STB regardless of selected code set and obtain from the remote the code set selected, negating the need to reset the remote or a possible phone call/email to support.

    Just a thought.

That screen is what phones display typically when a combination of buttons are used during startup, often volume up plus power on.

This could be a red herring but is it possible your remote had / has a button fault which was giving the symptoms of it looking like the box was not responding?

I don't know what button combo on the Aura would bring up that system menu on the Aura (maybe the Devs could let us know?)

There are now 50 members in the open group of testers.

Humax very pleased with the response, and thank all of you for your efforts.

I think that is enough for now, so no more testers needed for time being.
