Can't use Humax via an AV amp

This is a weird problem. My Humax FVP5000 works fine if directly connected to the TV with HDMI. No problems at all.

BUT - if I connect the HDMI out from the Humax to my Yamaha AV amp (which then connects to the TV) I lose the aerial signal. I can get a few channels, but most claim "no signal".

I even did a full channel re-scan each way, and this is what I got -

    1) With the HDMI output from the Humax plugged directly into the TV, a full rescan gives me 120+ channels, including all the HD ones.

    2) With the HDMI output from the Humax plugged into the AV amp, a full rescan only gives me 36 channels, with no HD ones.

Can anyone explain this? It's really strange.

When you transfer the HDMI cable over to the amp, does it come much closer to the cable from the aerial by any chance?

OK, I just wondered about the problem of interference from HDMI cables which has been reported by some people.

Hmm. Possible, but given the routing of my cables it seems unlikely. I've even tried multiple different HDMI cables - no difference. It's something to keep in mind though.

I use a 5000T with a Yamaha AV receiver with no issues. I would change any coax interconnects to home made ones made with WF100/PF100 sat grade coax and terminate using f connectors and F to Belling Lee adapters where needed. Screwfix have the f connectors and BL adaptors.
