Download a SD .ts to usb and open using MediaInfo.

If it says no PMT the file is still encrypted. If it opens it should be playable.

    Why would he do that?
He's trying get SD files to play using Samba.

He is trying to confirm that the SD file is decrypted on his installation.

To show if the software and codecs installed on his PC work with mpeg2 content in a transport stream container.

Samba is just a way of transferring files without using PC. Is it known that SD transferred by Samba removes the encryption ?

Thanks Graham. I tried MediaInfo with an SD .ts file and it says "BDAV (No PAT/PMT) Blu-ray Video" so it doesn't look as if I'll be able to play it. This is really disappointing and not what I expected from the FVP-4000T.

Definetely still encrypted. Can you try a SD transfer via usb to prove the box does in fact decrypt SD content ? Incidentally the box thinks it's bluray because the files are actually m2ts format (Like the files you get from a AVCHD camcorder).

Not having the box not sure if it's even supposed to decrypt using Samba (or FTP). Apart from workarounds the HDR FOX T2 and the HDR1800/2000T will only decrypt by copying to usb.

You can copy a file another way by using Samsung allshare on your
computer. I copy lots of SD files this way from my HDR200T and they
play ok it takes about seven to eight minuties to copy a 2GB file.I
know it is a slow way to do it but it does decrypt the file also
Most media players play the files.

I'll try copying directly to USB later today although even if it works it's not an ideal solution because the USB is on the rear of the Humax and rather inaccessible.

I played around with some new approaches last night.

I removed the Cat 6 cable and set up the FVP-4000T wifi. The wifi works fine and might have the advantage that at least with wifi the network/SAMBA server does not have to be restarted every time I restart the Humax. However, all the other problems remain.

I also tried all the usual stuff last night with a Win 10 laptop but it's just the same as Vista i.e. I can view the Recordings folder using the \\IP\Recordings path or view the top folder with \\IP\ but the SD recordings are still encypted. The Humax still does not appear in the Network as a drive or storage location.

I also tried inserting the IP address and name into the Hosts and the LMHosts files but without any effect.

However, some slight progress was made with the Ubuntu 15 box. This behaves slightly differently to the Windows PCs because the FVP-4000T does appear in the network as a storage location but I cannot open it as it gives the following error message "Unable to access location. Failed to retreive share list from server. Connection timed out". I have searched for this error message and it apparently means that the NMDB is not resolving the name to IP.

I'm not a regular Linux user so don't understand how to resolve this NMDB problem but maybe others can advise?

Ah yes ... I've just looked and indeed there is. I'll use that one.

    Many thanks

You aren't trying to view recordings directly from the box internal drive by any chance ?. To decrypt you would have to copy the file to a folder on your PC. Copy and paste or drag and drop will copy the file, provided of course you can see the drive as a mapped network drive.
