It used to be necessary to go back to 'Factory Settings' on Humax recorders before doing retuning in order to clear out the obsolete tuning. This did not delete recordings but afterwards it was necessary to re-programme recordings which take place serially. Also some settings needed to be changed as 'default' settings had been set. For example I used to set the 'commercial skip' to 120 seconds instead of the default 30 seconds. Sadly they've done away with commercial skip entirely on the FVP 5000T which I suppose is 'progress' but more likely cost cutting.

What you are calling "commercial skip" is still there:-

many thanks for the info, there's not a lot in the user manual about this but I've now got it set for 120 forward and 30 back. Discovering which buttons to use for 'skipping' was by 'trial and error'
As there are no buttons similar to those used on earlier Humaxes for commercial skip I assumed they had given up with it. I should have remembered 'If all else fails, read the instructions'.| Mon 20 Sep 2021 15:41:42 #63 |
