Also, just check that you are definitely NTFS/MBR.
Plug the 1tb into the Win10 machine.
Right click it and then select Properties.
    Hardware tab.
    Properties. (new page will open).
    Volumes tab.
Click Populate and the info will be there in Partition Style.

I'm trying to move them from the 5000T to the 2000T
The idea being that the 5000T is for daily use (it has a faster f/f function than the 2000T).
The 2000T is supposed to only contain files I permanently want to keep.

In that case, my recommendation is to use the 1tb hdd simply as a backup drive. All HD and SD files can be stored and will be playable on the original machine. SD files can be played on Win10 machine (using built-in player) if you select the drive and click on the .TS file. You may be prompted to install an additional codec, this is OK.

Click the Properties button at the bottom right and a new page will open. Populate is there.

Just tried again with the 1tb usb hdd.
Plugged into the 2000t it is recognized but will not open at all and says that there are only two files present but absolutely no way to access either (that I can find).
Same drive in the Win10 pc and all the files are visible but only the SD are playable.

That is showing that the drive is a scsi device. Was it a cheap special/refurb?

And have you verified that it is working by swapping files on/off via the Win10 machine?

If it's a legit branded USB hdd, there are reports of some Windows devices not recognising them correctly.
There are some possible solutions here :-

I've no reason to think this is a duff drive despite the fact I bought it new on eBay.It's the second one I've bought, I use the first as a second back-up for a ten year-old Maxtor and that works fine.
I've just copied and posted the photos relating to this problem to the new drive and the transfer was immediate and I can see them OK.

Stepping back from this, it's ridiculous that we're having problems transferring files from two appliances manufactured by the same company.

I'm going to dump it all in Humax's lap linking this discussion.

It's not doing their reputation any good if people like me with limited IT knowledge should have all this bother.
