I started a thread which has been closed since it's to do with the same issue, so I'll add it to here

    Hi All,

Just wanted to add that my HDD in my Human HDR-199S/1010S is no longer showing.

My software Version is UKSFAA 3.00.20,
    Loader UKSFAA 1.08
    Updatedate 09 DEC 2015.

I bought I pre owned about a 1 year ago and it's been fine. It's most the recording a few times but they have reappeared before but looks like they have gone now.

I've unplugged it for over a week and still no joy, tried a few power downs etc still no joy. I can hear the drive in the Human spin up, so I know the power is OK.

So i've opened the box up and removed the drive. I connected the drive to my mac and it powers up and the mac can see the partitions but obviously can't read them.

I connected another drive I had lying around to the Human and still the same result, no drive visible.

So that means the problem is either the motherboard in the Human, or the SATA data cable.

I've tried to fond a replacement cable but the Human power cable looks like the old floppy drive type, but the female version. Try as I may I have had no joy finding one anywhere.

If anybody has any ideas, my only option seems to be to hack the cable apart to separate the power and the data parts from the combined cable that goes into the drive and purchase a separate SATA cable from flee bay to rule out the SATA cable.

    Anybody got any views.

    TIA

I too have fallen foul of this issue.
Whilst watching a recording a few weeks ago the box froze and wouldn't respond to the remote or front buttons. I waited a few minutes and then did the old turn it off and on again. Started up fine and then no recordings!!! I had to resort to iPlayer.
The next day the recordings were back, I had c.60% used space.
The day after that they'd gone again and haven't come back.

So I did some research and being out of warranty opened up the box. The HDD spins up, the lights are on but no ones home. Next I decided to try a new HDD (I didn't find this thread at the time). Got one from Amazon and installed it this week - nothing doing. The box stubbornly refuses the acknowledge the new unformatted drive and insists that I install a USB drive. I tried everything including a factory reset, unplugging overnight etc.

Then I found this thread and suggestions of removing the app synching. So I put back the old drive, deleted the synching but still no joy.

From the settings menu I noticed that the firmware was updated 30th March, about a week before I encountered this problem. So a question, can I revert to the previous firmware version? Has anyone tried that and would it resolve the problem.

As I'm sure most people are I'm annoyed that such a problem hasn't been resolved by Humax. My old Panasonic freesat device has worked perfectly for over 6 years I wish they still made them

My software is older than yours and i've had the same problem.

I believe someone has downgraded back further but with no joy.

I've emailed human this morning and i'll see what they have to say.

Mine is still showing no HD.

Also lost all of it's channel icons and on demand icons now. Tried yet another factory reset 6 hours ago but still the same.

A factory reset will loose the stored icons but they will reappear in due course. (It is said you can speed up the refresh by staying on a BBC1 HD for a while)

One hunch on the lost recordings stage - don't look right after boot it may still be building the list.

Thing is though, if you don't opt for Humax who else is there? The Panasonic is a good reliable workhorse but the UI implementation is truly awful.

    Biggles.......

A little overstated there I think and in some part down to personal taste.

I don't except it's down to personal taste at all. I have owned the Panasonic PVRs/DVDRs since they were released and the UI just hasn't moved with the advancements in technology. It's only recently that you can continue watching iPlayer when there is a scheduled recording. Before the much overdue update if the consumer was watching iPlayer which clashed with a recording start then the viewer was dumped out of iPlayer.

That was just one of the many faults with UI and hardware/software implementation. It still takes more clicks to get anywhere than a Spanish Dancer's castanets.

Yes, the odd thing is I did not factory reset the unit before the icons disappeared. They just disappeared when I switched the unit on the other night so I decided to reset it again anyway. I know it takes a while for them to come back after a reset but I had not reset the box. Just more strange behaviour from an expensive paperweight!

The icons do refresh from time to time to pick up changes.

    So an update.

    No reply from Humax.

I ordered a new SATA cable and power cable (to power the drive from my pc).

Installed this morning and it makes no difference.

This leaves me to believe the problem is either the SATA controller (but the chance of these failing are so small) or

    The firmware has issues,

My recording have disappeared before but they always came back.

I've never used any app from my phone/ipad etc, but I did recently use 4OD because I thought I missed an episode.

    I'm still none the wiser

Anybody got any other ideas ?

    ** UPDATE **

I have my hard drive back!!

Not sure how, or if it will last but this is the series of events that happened before it reappeared..

Logged into the freesat website at http://www.freesat.co.uk on my computer.
Saw that my old phone was paired with my box
    Removed the pairing
A few hours later, the channel icons and on demand icons disappeared from the box
    Factory reset the box
Still no hard drive showing when rebooted
The next day I unplugged the box completely (power, hdmi, network, antenna) and left it for 4 hours.
Reconnected box, still no hard drive showing
Factory reset the box and allowed to reboot
Hard drive appears and contains all previous recordings.
24 hours later and the hard drive is there and working.

I'll report back if it fails again.
