On my T4R the latest update is the 1.07.
Its a pity but, I agree you must have been unlucky in getting a duff one.
At least Manhattan are still releasing updates to address any problems.
Also system improvements for the future.
I believe its been a very long time since Humax has released anything at all
Good luck with your Humax, However if Humax shuts up shop. there is no warranty.

Maybe you can help with a question that I have been unable to find out.

Is the Manhattan powered by Android TV like the Aura and therefore have the Google Play Store? I am thinking about getting a new box for the bedroom, but it would be a deal breaker if I could not add any apps, especially my alternative YouTube app.

    Thanks

Don't think it is. Didn't read or see anything about Android or play store during the week I had it!

As far as I know it is limited to Freeview Play apps and according to this review cannot get YouTube Apps, maybe someone else can advise if that has changed since this review from July..........

Last week returned my Manhatten T4R! Happy with the way it all worked but the picture quality was poor especially on live tv, compared with my 7 year old Youview box. persevered with settings and emails to Manhatten for a week with no improvement?
Purchased the AURA a few days ago and everything seems good, quick to set up and the picture quality brilliant.

This is a reply from Manhattan to another buyer who was unhappy with picture quality.......

"Thank you for purchasing the Manhattan T4-R. I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback about the SD picture quality.

I understand your concern regarding the softness of the SD picture on your T4-R compared to your previous Humax 2000T. The T4-R does produce a soft SD picture, as it helps to mask some of the noise and jaggedness present in SD broadcasts. While this approach reduces the crispness you're used to, it aims to provide a smoother overall viewing experience.

That being said, we recognise that some customers, like yourself, prefer a sharper image. We have an open case with our chipset manufacturer to investigate options for sharpening the SD picture. However, we're focusing on resolving some other matters first, which we believe will have a more significant impact on overall user experience.
In the meantime, you might want to experiment with your TV's picture settings to see if you can achieve a more satisfactory result. Some TVs have sharpness or detail enhancement features that could help compensate for the softer SD output from the T4-R.
    Best regards,
    Alex"

Thanks and to @trog, that’s what I suspected in which case it’s a definite no for me.

I will purchase another Aura if I decide to replace the current USB recording stick I am currently using.

    The Manhattan isn't android operated.
However, It comes with Freeview Play, and all the players preloaded.
The 2 tuners are very much better (sensitivity wise than the Aura by far)
These days there is a lot more +1 channels.
programmes, repeated in the same week. as well.
All of which enables a work around any recording clashes a lot easier now.
The tv Guide search button is also a lot better than any Humax.
as it actually does a full search of all the channels, both forward & backward.
If anything is erased by mistake you can restore it via the deleted file.
Finally, after Humax has brought out 3 models that have had 3 tuners in each.
All of them have had a whole load of system defects.
Of which the vast Majority have never been solved.
It strikes me that of all the PVR's on the market.
Non of the others have release a pvr with triple tuners,

It does sound a good machine and I think I could just about cope with just the two tuners, but there is no way I could cope without my alternative YouTube app. We watch probably more YouTube than anything else and having to sit through endless ads would be a nightmare.

I’m fortunate that our Aura does seem to be one of the good ones, but I like trying new things

    Hi Harter's ,
It's only a thought, buat haven't you got a You Tube app on your TV?
Or possibly use your TV internet browser to find and download it.
All smart TV's seem to have an internet browser these days.

Currently I use SmartTube on the Aura as there is a version for Android and on a FireStick on the upstairs TV as we only record a few things there and just use a USB stick plugged into the TV.

Saying that, I could get another FireStick to work alongside a Manhattan. Definitely do not want to be downloading or using a browser as we pittance so much on YouTube, buts thanks for the ideas.

    Your very welcome.
I hope I didn't over step the mark.
I've sent Manhattan an email with 2 questions.
1, is there a way the USB on the T4R can be used with a Firestick.
    And 2 , is there a reason that there isn't 3 tuners.
As usual, Peter has replied within 2 Hours.
Apparently the USB socket is only for din stalling updates.
However he suggested that nearly all tv's have a spare HDMI socket.
Failing that an HDMI- USB lead can be used as a workaround directly on TV's.
That was the 7th time that Query has come up.
On the 2nd Question. having the 3rd tuner was very closely looked at.
It was found that it was totally unworkable with any system reliability.
Therefore it was decided that the T4R would be a more reliable product with 2.
Isn't it rather a nice thing to email the manufacturer and get a good reply.
Finally since we have had the T4R it has recorded 35-45 programmes weekly.
I know this as I usually empty the deleted folder fortnightly.
Only on 1 occasion did we loose the signal from the transmitter.
I was very surprised that on loosing the signal, the recording was paused.
Then continued after the signal returned. On our 5000t once the signal was lost the remaining programme would be lost.
Even on the learning remote control there is a Zoom button to enlarge the Fonts.
We were ok with our 5000t up until it started to loose the schedule,& recordings.
Humax Only make the Aura these days, and that fore us was a nightmare on pixelation.
The Manhattan tuners are as solid as our tv tuners are allways.
