Or do what I do and use an inexpensive Chromecast dongle to feed all my online / catch-up / casting needs (including Youtube etc) alongside my venerable, old Digitalstream PVR. A Firestick or Roku box are other options.Harters - 1 day ago »
It does sound a good machine and I think I could just about cope with just the two tuners, but there is no way I could cope without my alternative YouTube app. We watch probably more YouTube than anything else and having to sit through endless ads would be a nightmare.
I’m fortunate that our Aura does seem to be one of the good ones, but I like trying new things

It is more that the demand for streaming services has taken the market for PVR's, than that Humax has abandoned the Aura but that's the outcome. It's a shame though.

I think you'll find it's the other way around.
It's Humax trying to push people onto streaming programmes.
I say this as Manhattan has just brought out a new model.
Together with Panasonic has several models that are Pvr's with a disk player
and there are other pvr's on the market. All of which can also stream.
The problem with streaming is that you have to sit through every advert.
Harter's is the only one that I've heard of thats found a way around it.
By going through YouTube.
The Last 3 models from Humax has been very hit and miss if you get a good one.
I'm afraid that it's been more miss than hit with the Aura.
All the other company's still operate an excellent support system.
This is something that Humax seems to have really struggled with.
Ever since the 4000t,5000t, and the aura .their standard reply is do a factory restore. that is if you can actually get them to reply at all.
I know I've done it several times on the Aura.| Wed 9 Oct 2024 8:00:49 #23 |
