My box just shut down after completion of recording Neighbours (Channel 5 HD) After manual restart had terminated recording of Father Brown (BBC 1 HD). After manual start was able to manually record end of programme (minus) the missing bit from the time shift buffer.

My 1000s has rebooted this evening for the first time in months. It happened at 20:30 with two simultaneous recordings just starting whilst we were watching something already recorded. I had to action a manual restart but the recordings appear to be okay.

"action a manual restart" ? I presume you mean you had to go to recordings and press play not restart the box.
Anyway you can't join the club with just the one reboot in months, you'll need a few more or at least a """"truncated"""" recording.

No, I mean the box shut down and did not reboot itself. I had to press the 'on' button on the remote.

So it wasn't actually a reboot then.

Same as my post above. It seems to be all part of the same problem. I have experienced 3 conditions so far.

1 Box reboots - no effect on current recordings.
2 Box reboots - dumps current recordings
3 Box shuts down - requires manual restart - dumps current recordings.

Fortunately with my box any of the above is pretty rare, though 3 happened again about 22:10 yesterday while attempting to delete two existing recordings in a series.

Possibly a 'shutdown' is more to do with the box being overtaxed then and unrelated to the current reboot problem, or do they normally just lock up under those circumstances.
Mine rebooted once with just live TV and nothing being recording (apart form the buffer of course).

Overtaxed. Not an issue, It was recording one channel and watching one live channel. Same has happened when not recording anything.

It has no issues with recording two HD and replaying 3rd HD recording or watching live HD channel (and recording to time shift buffer file).

The problem is relatively recent and started without any change in the software.

The old Foxsat-HDR (With the Custom Firmware) can cope with recording two HD and streaming up to 4 different HD recordings at the same time.

I'd say most of my reboots happen when one or two recordings have been going for about 10 minutes, touch wood never had a recording stop prematurely during a reboot and never had a shutdown requiring me to action a manual restart.
