I have an issue with my brand new Humax HDR-1100S.
It doesn't seem to want to work with with an AOC 42" TV (model L42W781HS).
When turning on you might get a brief glimpse of a screen for a second or two, but most of the time it stays blank.
The TV OSD infers that the signal is not recognised and occasionally it jumps from 1080 to 578 and back to 1080, but is stays blank.
Now the AOC works fine with a Humax FoxSat HD and a Tivo both via HDMI cable.
I've tried 3 different HDMI cables, one provided with the HDR-1100S and the two in use with FoxSat and Tivo, with same result as above.
But when I connect the HDR-1100S to a Seiki 32" via any of those HDMI cables it works fine.

Does this sound like a defect with my brand new Humax HDR-1100S?

Sounds more like a handshake problem between the box and the TV. Have you tried using a different HDMI socket on the TV? That has been known to work in some cases of handshake problems.

Connect the HDR-1100S to the 32" and set the picture settings to a fixed resolution of 1080i or 1080p. If that does not work on the 42" try 578.

This is the same problem as with older Sony tv's (with 1366x768 resolution).
Set the box to 720 and you should be fine.

<<Have you tried using a different HDMI socket on the TV>> Yes, same issue.
<<set the picture settings to a fixed resolution of 1080i or 1080p. If that does not work on the 42" try 578>> tried all settings, same issue.
<<Set the box to 720 and you should be fine>> nope, still no picture.
The infuriating thing, is the TV works perfectly in 1080 off the older Humax and a Tivo via same HDMI leads I have tried all.
