I had borrowed a Konig Satellite Finder meter. Tomorrow I will get a CRL sat-finder which is similar.
When you talk about using manual tune, I do not get a signal strength or quality reading on screen.

You should get the read out if you select a transponder that carries one of the channels you can view.

If you select a channel you can view and locate it on the link I gave to Kingofsat the transponder details are at the top of the block. Transponders marked UK are UK spot beams are tightly focussed on the UK so have a high field strength. Europe ones cover most of Europe so are much weaker.

You have to click on all and then display the list to display the figures for each transponder in the list.

Eg The lowest frequency transponder is top of the list and carries channel 4 channels. If you can view this you should get the diagnostics.

Just realised it's a G2 box, manual tune is much inferior on the these boxes. To look at individual transponders you have to manually add it.

Post a channel you can actually view.

I keep an old Sky-HD box which you can pick up for peanuts for aligning a dish it's cheaper than any of the cheap meters and displays signal quality and quality as actual percentages. Use simply add the transponder using add channels.

After watching a program on ON Demand, the EPG has now loaded and I can watch some channels again but not all.

I have a couple of these boxes on the mainland. I'll definitely bring one of them back with me next time I'm over

Mainland - Where are you located ?

Most of the UK channels were transferred to UK spot channels (including the home transponder) a while ago.

Depending on your location you may now need a much larger dish or the further South and East you are you might be only able to use the Europe beam transponders.

I can view channel 111 (ITV HD)

111 is the lcn you get in Freesat mode, in non freesat mode the channel number can be very different.

    ITV HD Central West 11097 V 23000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK
    ITV HD Granada 11097 V 23000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK
    ITV HD London 11097 V 23000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK
    ITV HD Meridian South 11097 V 23000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK
    ITV HD Anglia East 11097 V 23000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK
    ITV HD Yorkshire West 11097 V 23000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK
    ITV HD Tyne Tees 11053 H 23000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK

The most likely is 11097 V but could be 11053 H

Do you get Tyne Tees news when viewing the local news.

It's good news at least you can get UK spot beam transponders.

If you can identify which it might be a issue with horizontal polarised channels or vertical ones. Not enough info to find out which though horizontal ones are likely.
