Yes it tells me it has connected but I can't get On Demand.

    I sometimes do this.

Booting up STB without a router on, found that STB needs another reboot and then loading showcase about 10s after it booted up and then On Demand works

Hope Humax fixes these issue's soon!

That's very interesting. That's different from what I found when I experimented last week. I was seeing if I could replicate the change in behaviour, post-update, which Pollensa1948 had reported

I turned everything off, waited, turned the Humax back on, and waited until it was fully up and running. Then I brought the network up. The Humax did not connect automatically. I had to go into settings and "connect automatically" before it found the router. This was the same as reported by Pollensa1948. Yet apparently here are two boxes, both afflicted by the Showcase bug, which behave differently. Your box and that of I want free DTV both apparently keep searching for the router.

But i have iplayer working off the channel but no OD or Showcase off the menu. Looks like the box is confused at the menu level and think it does not have network.

Anyway im waiting for the fix as love freesat....

That's not apodictical, as Nero Wolfe used to say. Both could be involved.

Exactly. And here we seem to have pinpointed another way in which the afflicted boxes behave differently regarding the connection to the router.

    1. Afflicted boxes "forget" they're connected, whereas non-afflicted boxes don't
    2. When the box is brought up before the network, afflicted boxes keep searching for a connection whereas non-afflicted boxes don't

Intrigued why some turn off the router at night.

I can't do this anyway. I frequently watch content using headphones on my smartphone after retiring. My grandson is known to do similar on his smart TV.

It's surely sensible to carry out housekeeping duties during the periods that anyone with a limited broadband service will perform at it's best.

Apart from a tiny amount of electricity saving, why ?

I normally don't turn off either the router or the STBs, as more often than not stuff is scheduled to record.

When I do occasionally switch everything off overnight, I would always turn the router on first, the next morning. It just seems the natural order.
