Just had an email from "Customer Support" who say that they "hope to have a fix in the near future, but not sure when" in response to my comments on:

Unable to have wifi and network cable working simultaneously
VPN issues with network cable connected
iPlayer / catch-up schedules being blank requiring hard-off reset

Looks like I don't have most recent update however when I click check for update it says 'your system is up to date. How annoying. What else am I missing out on ha. Anyone know how to either download and install the update or why my box will not download it. I have restarted it etc and tried again but still says up to date despite being 27 Sep

PM me your units serial number and I can get it checked by Humax Towers.

Serial number can be found in:

    Settings
    Device Preferences
    About
    Status

I have exactly the same builds and s/w versions, am definitely connected to the Internet, and also am met by the statement that my box is up to date.

Hello all new here and have a few questions on the Aura if you don't mind

I am new to Freeview recording and was just going to get a Youview box but a friend said they are very clunky is the aura a better option for speed and reliability?

It seems like the now TV app is not fully functional yet does casting now TV work and how well? And will the app be fixed?

How easy is it to sideload apps and does this invalidate the guarantee in any way?

I see Netflix does not work at all. Is this just teething problems or it it likely to stay that way?

Did the issues with iPlayer not loading get resolved or is that still ongoing too?

How is the USB playback can it handle most common formats?

I am in this for the long haul so do not mind that there is a few issues that Humax need to address. But is there any other box I should consider over the Aura? It needs to have now TV and be speedy but that's my only requirement.

Cheers for any help £250 is a big investment and with it being a new product not too much info online that I could find.

I prefer the Freeview Play on Aura over the Humax rebranded BT youview box for the freeview and recordings.

NowTV is not available on any Android TV OS box, as exclusive currently to Sony Android TV units on the platform, since then Amazon Fire Sticks Lite, 3rd gen and 4k have official NowTV added and full support on NowTV website, so one will assume no deal has been done for Android TV OS boxes or with Humax just yet or ever, who knows.

Casting NowTV from my iPhone to Humax Aura was fine, no audio issue, picture was fine, it uses 2 device slots though.

iPlayer and UK catch ups are all fine.

Sideloading third party apps is fine and very easy, and same as doing to any other android tv os product, of course have official play store also(tv version)

Netflix is not certified, doubt it will be also, but there is patched apps that run at 1080/5800kbps but poor navigation as mobile based app so need mouse, or there is a version that need no mouse but runs at 480p/1750kbps, in other not great vrs just using on a smart tv hub.

    Well push came to shove.
Got fed up of the occasional intermittent video/audio freeze and flicker. So box is being swapped out next week, hopefully before Christmas Day. Then we see if the problem resumes...

That's great thanks for the reply. I think I'm going to go with this I have never had a Humax product before but they seem to have great customer service and seem committed to improving the product and fixing issues so I'm happy to take the plunge.

How is the basic Freeview watching experience? And does it support streaming channels on Freeview such as Now 90s?

Blimey. I was thinking about replacing my T2000 which is getting a tad glitchy with an Aura but 50 pages of gripes, snags and teething issues makes me think better the devil I know. No way will I be shelling out £250 until for this beta unit - I'll wait until it, y'know, actually works okay. Last thing I want is rest of family constantly screaming "Dad! The box has gone weird again!!!" all hours of the day.

Bear in mind that you don't hear from people who don't have problems, and they vastly outnumber those who do.

Some kind of update happened today on mine.. You can now add items to play next manually.. Will come in handy, a bit like the Chromecast with Google TV watchlist. Just waiting for other updates to download and install
