    I wouldn't expect the Humax to appear in the computers and devices list as to my knowledge it doesn't support SMB (what windows uses for file sharing) or client for Microsoft networks.
    If you run a command prompt and run ping 192.168.1.3 from the PC then it should respond, that's about all you can expect it to do as it doesn't (yet) run as any kind of media server.

    Graham, The homeplug adaptors are not connected through the surge protectors but directly to their own wall sockets. The speed using the homeplugs is similar to that using the ethernet cable at 3.4-3.5 Mb/s and in any case I have the same problem when the HDR-1000s is connected using the ethernet cable as advised in the earlier posts. I am stuck with the broadband speed for the foreseeable future as we are at the edge of town and still on copper from the exchange. That said, the Humax leaflet says minimum 2 Mb/s required so it should be okay if they are correct.
    Thanks for the info on the network devices display. I just wondered if that was a symptom.

    Finding myself with a spare half hour just before 5pm I switched on the Humax and tried BBC iPlayer. Expecting the usual 'not connected' message I was amazed to see it loading. I looked at a couple of programmes before trying various other features. Humax TV Portal, Youtube, Showcase, earlier programmes in the guide are all working. My broadband speed (as checked on the PC) was sitting at about 3.1 Mb/s and I am listening to iPlayer 'Later... with Jools Holland' as I write this on the PC while University Challenge is on iPlayer on the Humax. That would suggest that the bandwidth is adequate (probaly only just though). I have changed nothing on the PC or router or homeplug adaptors. The only thing I have done is to uninstall 'WiFi Protector' and Microsoft Silverlight on the PC because the former stopped working. I cannot imagine why that would be in any way related as iPlayer should work when the PC is off.

    I guess the true test is if it still works later tonight or tomorrow.

    Any guesses anyone as to why it suddenly started working after three and a half months plus the time my previous and replaced Foxstat-HDR 500GB On-Demand had stopped working?

    I have a new 1000s box which is giving Incorrect link message as others have. However I use ethernet cable and is does connect to internet - can get humax apps and more importantly it downloaded a s/w update
    I took the box back to shop and it connected to iPlayer there so nothing fundamentally wrong with the box
    Router is Belkin54g of 6 or 7 years and as far as I can tell everything is on default and automatic and nothing stands out
    iPlayer is fine on my PC
    Router claims 2.4mbs
    I've tried every possible power disconnect and reset to no avail

    So it seems to mean what it says - incorrect link or link not available
    Maybe something quirky in my router or maybe a timeout issue with the OD players and the box
    Nice man at Humax didn't know what is was, nor man in shop but they are willing to come and see if they can find anything quirky on site. Personally I think its worth trying a different box here. Its obviously not a common fault and may be a combination of marginal design and local parameters

    would much appreciate some help please

    I rather think that this error is either a LAN problem or less likely a data problem. How is the unit connected to your router?

    Connected through wireless. Will note none of my other equipment has any issues but i have noticed the connecting drops alot on the humax box. Could be a issue with the virgin super hub its a bit temperamental. I have managed to get the on demand working again after a few restarts of the box will try another router if the problem comes back.

    Can you try a long temporary cat5 cable (these are very cheap on e-bay). If that works a pair of homeplug adaptors should do the business if you can't run a permanent cable.

    The WiFi range isn't very good on my Super Hub, it's a weak signal just 2 rooms away upstairs with only partition walls in the way.

    Yeh i was thinking about homeplugs i will look into it if the problem continues. I don't rate the super hub myself think its a average router and your right the signal strength is terrible.
