Barry, thanks for the welcome ..... very much appreciated.

Just writing some early thought for those that have yet to buy or for anyone else interested. I've had the box for an hour or so - so it really is just first impressions.

My first impressions are being extremely thankful for the ability to record these channels. I have read somewhere or other that you can record more than the stated channels dending on the multiplexes involved. At the moment I have started to programme in many recording and they have yet to alert me to conflicts or too many stations so I'm hoping that the way it deal with the conflicts is to alert rather than accdept the booking butb then simply not do it and give a retrpospective error instead.

My current or previous way of working is by having to BT Youview boxes working together. The RC remains the same code so that when I switch one on the other switches off and I found that this has been a great way of recording and viewing programmes. I have recoded the RC on the new box to a different channel and I think I may use the new box purely as a sort of bulk recorder and the BT Youview box as the box I watch live and also a spontaneous recorder.

I've been fortunate to be a beta tester for Youview from the start and benefited from that over the years with several boxes and new releases ... and the one thing I will say is that I find this new box feels very slow and clanky in comparison - and that is dissapointing - to the Youview boxes I have been using. And the players and apps feel extremely slow for example when compared to an Amazon Fire TV box. It's a shame that they haven't included more processing power. I can see me resorting to the Amazon box forthe players as well as all my Kodi "unmentionable" apps.

There are still functions I'm perplexed that Freeview and Youview don't include. For example when wanting to record a programme but having too much already being recorded I want to be able to hit a colour button on a programme and for it to show me when the programme is being re-broadcast later so I can record it later.

Anyway ..... just some first impressions from a newby and here is hoping for no nasty surprises.

    Jeff

FWIW, every time I retune my HDR Fox T2 the first recordings on BBC4 HD and SD fail.
So I record something I don't want to get it back to normal.

I'm sure lots of others had similar problems with BBC4 in the past.

The HDR-Fox T2 does exactly that; I'd be surprised if later Humax boxes don't.

Thanks. It seems so puzzling that you cannot simply list all alternative of the current highlighted programme by hitting a colour button and then use up and down toselect and then "OK".

For some reason I have a hazy memory of one box or software in the past that did this but for me it wasn't a Fox as I haven't had one.

The 4000 does this too, often it says the program can be recorded on a +1 channel or on another day.

It is odd that it doesn't figure on a newer box. When I hit record it offers me the choice of either single programme pr series but not alternative time. I think it offers alternatives on one of the freesat boxes but I can't remember which.

fwiw I also do not like it when you use arrow to move down channels in the guide, when you readh the bottom, instead of remving a channel from the top and adding one to the the bottom it starts a completely fresh page. So if you have in view channels 0101 to 0107, if you are on 01017 and arrow down I'd prefer simpky to see 0102 to 0108 rather than 0107 to 0113. I guess I will simply get ise to it.

CORRECTION; I have just played and when I try to record more channels than it can handle it gives me not only the option to cancel other recordings but alternative broadcasts to record of the wanted additional programme AND alternatives for the others in the recording plan. That is neat and is worth a smile!

Yes this really bugs me too. It never used to do it until they changed the guide and its been like it ever since. I reported it ages ago, but nothing has been done about it.

    Welcome to our Forum
    No Padding...
There is a known issue whereby the first BBC 4 HD recording of the day is listed with the broken symbol...however the recording plays ok. This has been reported to Humax Towers and acknowledged.

Ah but it didn't play ok - black screen throughout but sound present. Will check tonight (SD not HD)

BBC 4 SD timer - Beyond 100 Days @ 1900 has recorded, listed with broken symbol but plays back without issue .

Barry. Yes, mine was the exact same as yesterday. Do you have padding set on yours? (actually not quite the exact same - this time I got no error message and a nice screenshot where it should be) But once more no visual recording at all, only audio.

Another thing I noticed today (and now I recall it was the same yesterday) was that I had to hit the standby button twice to get a response from the box even though the light at the bottom was blue. Sort of an off and on again - but without the Humax logo showing.

I'm setting tomorrow's to start at 7:02 (meaning 6:59 with the padding) and will see how it goes.

[I hope Trumpy hasn't been up to too much while I haven't been seeing the show ]
