A phased roll out commenced this morning in very limited numbers, and will continue next week.

Awaiting official release note, but some of changes as follows:

    • IP Search – Search result will contain IP contents

    • IP About – When you select ‘About’ menu, enriched information will be provided through IP

    • Restart TV – Extending BBC iPlayer’s Live restart function, you can restart current live programmes from EPG or other menus

Note: The new icon in guide on BBC channels for example

    • ITV Hub – ITV Hub change from MHEG to HTML version may not be available until full roll out commences.

    Edit:

Same version number for HB 1000/1100S, whilst I'll draft a new thread I won't 'stick it' to top of Forum

    Release note:

    Added Features

    • ITV Hub HTML version : Moving away from legacy MHEG version of ITV Hub, now we support enriched HTML version on Freesat products (This needs activation from Freesat server, which will be done few weeks after SW roll out)

    • Live restart : Extension from ‘Restart TV’ available in BBC iPlayer, you can watch current live programmes from start. This can be triggered from TV Guide, Search, Mini EPG etc… (Currently available for BBC channels only)

    • IP Search : Search result to include catch up programmes over IP

    • IP About : On top of programme information delivered over RF, enriched information will be delivered over IP

    Fixed issues and improvements

    • YouTube hang up issue caused by HLS type adverts

    • Ability to change cable connection set up from settings. Previously, if you had set the box up through installation wizard connecting only one cable, you had to factory reset in order to newly set up for two cable connection. Now you can just re-scan channels from Settings to make connection change from one to two (or any other connection types)

    • LED colour not turning to purple whilst recording (HDR-1100S)

    • General stability improvements

Ability to change cable settings by a simple re-tune is an excellent idea.

Out of interest, how does Humax restrict who has access to the update?

Is it done by postcode, ip address, serial number or same other means?

My guess would be your box unique MAC address.

My guess it that is a simple counter within unit model, perhaps also by date.

Can I go into settings on my Humax HB1000S HD and download the (any) software update from there. Or does one have to transfer onto a USB.

Yes you can, subject to the phased rollout.
I think you are also notified by a popup after boot if new software is available.

When available you can update via:

    Home
    Settings
    System Settings

Highlight Software Update and press OK

    Hi,
Any news whether this update will resolve the LONG standing issue of not using the correct aspect ratio for movies played from a local server? I hope so but expect to be disappointed
