Has anyone ever identified exactly what the hardware differences are between the two boxes as from the Humax web site I sruggle to see in what way the 5000 differs from the 4000.

The only obvious difference appears to the location and function of the led used to indicate the box status. Without being able to minutely check every component on the motherboard there may be other differences.

I downloaded it a while ago as I have been very tempted to do this as well, especially as the early internal photo showed a FVP-4000 sticker on it.
I think once I know it can be downgraded back to the FVP-4000, just in case there are any issues, I will give it ago.

I tested this yesterday, downgrading was problematic, but I managed it in the end....not giving anymore details as I do not want to be held responsible for members bricking their units.

As I have previously posted the only hardware difference is the case.

Upgraded my fvp4000t successfully. No issues. Seems to be a little quicker but that may just be wishful thinking

Sorry I must have missed that post. So on the Humax web site you pay an extra £30 for the 2TB 5000T (compared to 4000T 2TB) and all you are getting for that is an different case with a differnt model number ???

Be back later, I am just going to change the badge on my car from 2.0 to 3.0, should increase the resale value no end

Upgraded mine first thing this morning. Many thanks to peterobb.

Barry, I've been reading the 5000 manual and there is no mention of smart retune. Is this feature on the 5000? Sorry if I've missed this in a previous post.

    David.

Smart retune is indeed a feature on the FVP 5000T.
