Have the exact same issue with brand new Aura box! No updates pending (app or os). However the android patch version is 2021, rather worryingly this seems to indicate it's not been supported for 3 years!! Did anyone find a fix? I've emailed support to see if there is a known fix.

What was the box doing when the black screen occurred?

Thanks, I'm aware that it's a 3 year old thread but 3 years later we have exactly the same issue and no fix was posted so I was wondering if there was a known fix (without rebooting several times a day)
Max amount of time we've had the box working is a couple of hours, then it does the black screen thing and needs a reboot. It seems that the issue mainly occured after having used YouTube on the box but not 100% sure as multiple people use the box at different times.

Always best to start a new thread even though the subject may be the same, more people are more likely tt
read a new thread rather than wade through something that is a few years old.If it is a new box and under 30 days old take it back for a new replacement box or full refund.
If over 30 days old and still not functioning as expected after reboots and factory resets get a replacement

If you just bought an aura I would recommend returning it. Humax doesn't seem to support or update it anymore. So many bugs it's not a good experience at all. Return if you can. Your issues will not get fixed

I think we might have it fixed. They released an update recently, told me how to force the update, now the only issue is it doesn't support the hdmi switch we are using (random black screen for a second when using the switch, no issues when not), so got to get some more long hdmi leads to reach the TV. Yes the switch supports 4k and HDCP.

How do you force the update ?

To ensure that the update is applied smoothly, please follow the steps below:
Put the device into standby mode, wait until the HDD stops working, then unplug the power supply.
After waiting for 5-10 minutes, plug the device back in.
Turn on the box and watch live TV for 1 minute.
Place the box back into standby mode for 1 minute.
Turn it on again and watch live TV for 5 minutes.
Finally, put the box into standby mode for 2 minutes.
To confirm the update, you can check the version number by navigating to:
Settings > Apps > See all apps > Show system apps > Freeview,
The updated version should display as 1.00_65_241003_3c97b102b.| Tue 10 Dec 2024 6:14:36 #18 |
