When it stops working the IP settings are very odd and can't work as the ip address in on a different network from the DNS server and there is no default gateway set.

I am guessing but I think probably the old and new routers have different default networks which should not be a problem if all your kit is set to autoconfigure via DHCP.

    Some questions:
Are you sure that there are not two DHCP servers active?
On the new router can you change the DHCP lease time? If so increase it significantly and post if that makes any difference.
Can you post the routers DHCP configuration.

I have set it to 192.168.0.254 now to see if that helps.

Ok thanks, how would i know if i had 2 DHCP servers active?
The lease time is set to 1 day, i had it working earlier set to 192.168.0.100 but restarted the humax box and it went funny again so im not sure if that would help.

Thanks everyone for giving me things to look at as it's driving me nuts.

But your router 'base' IP is 192.168.1.1

    Sorry typo
    192.168.1.254

You need to change the HDCP pool to a lower number. Like say . 125 and then use a number like 126 or higher.

A bit of explanation. The last 3 digits are a 8 bit binary number.

8 bits has 256 variations including zero the max number of variations excluding 1 used for the base login address. So 2 to 255 is available in decimal notation. If you set the upper limit to 254 only 192.168.1.255 is available.

Set the upper limit to 192.168.1,125 then the following range is available

192.168.1,126 to 192.168.1.255 can be assigned that ought to be enough

Graham - a typo 192.168.1.126 to 192.168.1.254 can be assigned that ought to be enough.
    255 is the broadcast address.

Mr Gamer - Try upping the DHCP lease time, normally renewal is attempted when the lease is 50% used. I presume you fully disconnected the old router from the network?
