Picture breaking up on playback.

    why is the picture breaking up on playback especially on recordings which were recorded at the same time as other recordings on my FVP 4000T

    If you watch the same channel live as the problem recordings what are the signal quality and signal levels shown while viewing live.

    The signal strength and picture are usually fine. It seems to depend on weather I am recording more than one channel at once.

    OK I beg to disagree with your assessment that those levels are fine. I would say a signal strength of 98% is quite possibly too high and could be causing tuner saturation. I would suggest you experiment by either reducing gain if you have a variable gain amplifier or inserting a variable attenuator into the aerial feed to the Humax and aim for a signal strength of about 80% and see if this fixes your problem.
