Thanks. But on my menu those are set to 'auto' and greyed out. Is there somewhere else I should look?

Are you recording or playing back a recording per chance?

The options are locked while the box is recording. Try again after checking the box is not recording. This sets the padding for all recordings. You can set manual padding for an individual reservation by editing the times (press yellow on the item in the schedule list). This removes accurate and series recording. It converts the item to a manually set timer

Am at work at the moment, but my recollection is that I was looking at Settings while doing neither. (I'm very new to this machine.)
