Swapped again, back to two cables found, but not before I fixed one of the connectors that was coming loose, just to complicate matters. The test went as before.

OK - don't want to push things but if another swap says two cables then we would have cracked it.

I moved the box back, reconnecting the extension cables, so I don't know whether swapped or not. Then I scheduled three recordings, with an overlap, which all succeeded, from standby. But the channel switch test still doesn't work.
The recordings were on BBC1 HD Scot and BBC4 HD.

Graham,
Any thoughts?
Your post with channels to check - Can you recheck Movies4Men, I see 11344H (flagged as new change) M4M +1 also flagged as changed (11344V). KingofSat flagged the changes as 27/09/2018.
RonJF - I would put some tape around one of the feeds.
Might be worth another cable swap test. Just to see if it again reports 2 feeds.
Graham, am I correct that Foxsat setup is just checking that both feeds can access the freesat transponder which is Horizonal polarised? Not sure how the box checks for two cables, however it would make sense for both tuners to contact the home transponder and download the postcode database data. Guessing it wouldn't then check for a vertical chhannel. Just got home and have booted Foxsat to determine what transponder it reports for (957 using opt +
957 BBC One NI is vertical 10817 V 22000 5/6 so should be available to second tuner when tuner 1 is using low band horizontal with two cables.

I moved the box and managed to eliminate a pair of sat cable extensions then did another reset which found two cables. However, it still fails Graham's test and a scheduled recording failed when the box was in standby but then started when I switched on, just as before.
I'll try swapping the cables again now.
Edit: swapped and reset, back to one cable found. Does this make any sense at all?Guessing - when you have two cables connected to two lnb outputs both of which works with horizontally polarised transponders the number of cables found is falsely identified as having two working lnb outputs. This would appear to confirm lnb itself is broken.
Try the following after a two cables found setup.
This uses tuner 1 to record two channels at the same time thus tuner 2 should be able to access any other transponder in any band and of any polarisation.
Using Transponder 11023 H
Move to Channel 200 BBC News HD and press record, move to 973 BBC One Scotland and press record.
As you are now recording two you can't actually record anything else but all epg channels on your postcode generated epg should be viewable. (though on a G2 box you can live pause any other viewable channel, but not on a Foxsat-HDR, On a G2 box on any third channel viewed from the programme start it can actually be recorded (from the time shift buffer) one one of the two recordings completes by simply pressing the instant record button
The following channels should all be viewable if they are on your epg due to post code.
Low Band Horizontal - If they aren't most likely a (£20.00 lnb from e-bay will fix it)

My thoughts were similar - i.e. that at least one LNB port was defective. In view on the small replacement cost of a self fit, I would just buy one.

OK, I've now confirmed that with cables one way round only one is found, but swapping them gets two.
With two cables found and recording 973 and 200 I can watch channels from all four groups. (With one found I get "no or bad signal" on all but the first group.)
Sorry but I haven't been able to follow all of the discussion above, does this mean I need a new LNB or not? (I understand they're cheap but access is a real hassle.)

(I understand they're cheap but access is a real hassle.)On the face of it if you can watch all the suggested channels when recording two from the suggested transponder ( Bear in mind some will missing down to your post code - English ITV regions for instance)
pick the lowest channel number in each group and cycle up by using the up channel button. Only by checking each can the dish alignment be checked. It's possible a dish alignment issue or an odd lnb fault could be failing some 2nd tuner recordings. If you get all then we can try out recording two from a vertical transponder rather than horizontal.I take it you don't have any other connected satellite kit connected like a Sky-HD box or generic FTA box, connected to the two spare outputs you are to likely have on a four output quad lnb ?

RobJF - Thanks for a most interesting problem to think about. My money is on one LNB port is unable to select V transponders.
I always keep a spare LNB in my garage as I need a different type for my distribution system and it is only possible to a universal here at over the top prices.BTW - Do you use padding (Hopefully not)?
| Sun 30 Sep 2018 16:41:24 #29 | -
While recording 200 and 973 I can watch all other channels.
There's nothing else connected to the LNB.
I don't use padding.
