Try this first and if it works then you may be able to proceed to the software update.

    Switch OFF at the mains.
    Remove the aerial lead.
Switch ON the mains and when booted try and bring out of STANDBY.
If you can now get into the menu do a Default Setting, obviously no channels will be found during this process.
Switch to STANDBY and then OFF at the mains.
    Reconnect the aerial lead.
Switch ON the mains and when booted bring out of STANDBY.
Go into menu and do another Default setting, this time channels will be found.
If all this unfreezes your box you may then be able to update the software.

    hi
Iam in a bit of a dilemma
My remote is not working so when i am on installation menu i cannot input numbers into the default box.
Firstly is there any way to put numbers in without the remote and secondly i have a horrible feeling that the remote may be knacked.
can i test it with my digi camera as per all remotes or has it ceased to work because of the software prob.
    thanks in advance.
I understand that if i put the box in standby it will update at 4am but am a bit impatient

i have the same problem too......let me know if you get sorted

I knew the procedure had been suggested earlier in the thread but I didn't have time to check where and who for.

Does the box respond to any commands from the remote? I assume you've checked the batteries and you've not put them in the wrong way round.

I have installed a lot of Humax box's for friends/family etc. Some are new retail units and some are the A Grade ones direct from Humax.

All of you beating yourself up for not realising that the unit had to be in stanby to get the software updates can rest easy. From my experience it wouldn't have helped anyway !

On at least the last 10 or so 9150 & 9300 units I have installed the OTA Auto Softare Update has failed to work as it should, The only way up till now that I have been able to update them was via a PC.

So may thanks to this Forum for telling me how to do a "Manual Software" update that works a treat!! Brilliant.

Can anyone here give me a clue as to why I have had complete failure on so many Humax bdox's not being able to auto update despite them being in stanby and Auto update turned on etc.
