I've solved this problem by setting the box to auto power on at 12:00 then off at 12:30. This has worked for me on two separate programmes.
Changing the auto padding has also been reported as a solution. I haven't tried this yet though.

Padding works a treat.
c-h - 1 week ago Should I leave the box on 24 hours a day until this problem is resolved? Will that help?
I asked this question and have an answer too...
Power on box at 09:00, power off at 01:00 and not a single failed recordings since.
Mine failed to record Top Gear last night and Africa the other day. Very frustrating and totally unreliable.
When I ever stop watching live TV I always put the box into Standby. Are we saying we should not be doing this and rely on the auto standby function at around midnight until a fix is found?
