I'm glad that some of you have reverted to the old version. Unfortunately due to my limited technoskills having read the instructions I'll have to give it a miss!

Hi groovyoldwoman,
Hope this may help you. Are you able to use a USB stick? If you are able, you simply download on your PC the file & then copy over to the USB stick. Instructions all seem complicated, but are long winded in the way they are written.
You then unplug your Humax & insert USB stick into teh front. Before turning plugging into mains again, keep your finger pressed on the Channel DOWN arrow on front until it swithes on & boots to a software loading screen. Just follow the instructions on screen. If you are successful, software will be updated & reverted to old version. You should then do a factory reset, but make a note of any schedules you have as thsi will be wiped off humax. Recordings will still be safe. Trust this may help you? Good luck! I did mine last night.

@Faust #227 "I have a newspaper or the planner and cannot imagine for one minute why I need an app to suggest what I might like to watch?"
So Newspapers never have similar "What to Watch" suggestions ! My thoughts are why pay for a newspaper when there are Free apps that can supply similar TV/news info. (Obviously the usefulness of these Apps is highly dependent on whether the user has a non-crippled iPad or not.)
Anyway I'm getting lazy in my middle age, I do try to have a quick look through the main channels to see what's on and set recordings but I can be prone to missing/ignoring the odd new programme that I/we might well have found educational or entertaining.
So I didn't mind a feature like Showcase on my box to make suggestions and make it easy to record them, but for my circumstances I'd rather not have the box connected. As an example 'Mapp and Lucia' was Showcased at Christmas and we really enjoyed that, pretty certain I wouldn't of recorded it just off the planner/guide. I think my Christmas radio times had the audacity to do a feature on it too but I'd already set it to record before finding that.

I find the Radio Times Discovery app very useful for letting me know about good films I never heard of, often showing on lesser-watched channels and thus easy to miss. Free for iOS. I don't know if there's an Android version.
The YouView app is also quite good for finding stuff, even if you don't have a YouView box.

I was thinking of reverting myself if only to get Showcase back, but I suppose once the new improved/fixed software is released it will be back to broadband only again.
So for now I'll carry on using their app and manually recording anything of interest using search on the box.
So Freesat won't let me record direct from Showcase on the box (unless I'm connected) and
Freesat won't let me record Showcase direct from the App (unless I'm synced and my box is booting up about 4 times an hour)I do realise to each their own. However, all this kerfuffle about Showcase baffles me. I looked at the feature when I first booted up my 1000s around 18 months ago shrugged my shoulders and haven't been near it since.
I have a newspaper or the planner and cannot imagine for one minute why I need an app to suggest what I might like to watch?I find showcase really useful, mainly because I don't have the time or willpower to navigate through the whole guide or buy a newspaper/magazine and browse the listings. Plus the newspapers don't cover catch-up so it wins out there too. I've found some really good content via the Showcase, but like you say each to their own

Hi Barry,
No idea what i'm doing first time posting,
i seem to have the same problem as many others' since last update, i have a foxsat+ box using a Edimax dongle used fine for the past year but after update it's no longer recognised, i have fitted a vap 11G bridge which works ok but reads as ethernet cable connection, i see there is a option to roll back to a previous version, but as i am out of trouble at the moment i will stay as i am and see if humax comes up with a fix.

Thought I would post my question to Humax and their reply:
Impressive customer service!!Hi,
Thank you for contacting Humax.
We are not aware of any software update being released to have done this. What model of box are you using and are you using the official Humax WiFi dongle?
Best Regards,
AndrewG

Communication #2:You have issued a new update which is stopping Wi Fi Dongles connecting to
Broadband, can you tell me when you will fix this issue? Thanks

Asking whether it is a Humax branded dongle seems a bit of an irrelevance to me. I understand that they will only support their own product but clearly your dongle is of the correct chipset (Ralink RT3070) as it used to work before the update. Samsung, for example, use the product and vendor ids to stop otherwise compatible dongles working with their equipment. As far as I am aware, Humax don't do this and have not made a deliberate change in the software according to the above reply from customer support. Therefore it is most likely a transient problem with the current update.

I note people are still having problems with the wifi dongle.
I don't know why people persist with wifi for streaming video, it is rarely as successful as Ethernet. I have a decent multi-band router (Airport Extreme) and get a pretty good signal in all areas of the house.
However, (eat your heart out Michael Gove ) I have now changed all my wireless fixed kit e.g. PVR's Apple TV etc over to Ethernet. Even with a good signal wireless can stutter with HD and trying to fast forward one would literally run into the buffers.
With Ethernet via Homeplugs (cue Winston) there are no such issues.
