''If you had read this forum prior to the update you would probably have gone out and bought two. It is without doubt the best sat box money can buy - e.g. it's head and shoulders above the Sky+ HD box I used to use.''
I have a busy life, when i fork out for some thing i expect it to work. Looking back at the forums, every time there is an software update, problems start. Freesat/Humax must be using some cutprice testing of their OADs.

I realise how annoying this sort of thing is and sympathise. Example,iOS 9 has crippled my IPad and yet Apple do nothing months after the software was released. .

That's clever considering iOS 9 is currently only available as Beta, the official release won't be available until September.
If you do indeed have iOS 9 then there's only one person to blame for crippling your iPad.

Very perceptive of you. I did realise my typo when it was too late. It should of course read as iOS 8.

I was thinking of reverting myself if only to get Showcase back, but I suppose once the new improved/fixed software is released it will be back to broadband only again.
So for now I'll carry on using their app and manually recording anything of interest using search on the box.

So Freesat won't let me record direct from Showcase on the box (unless I'm connected) and
Freesat won't let me record Showcase direct from the App (unless I'm synced and my box is booting up about 4 times an hour)

Is anybody else intrigued by this:

"Some improvements have been made on Monday evening, which we believe has made the reboots a lot less frequent, but there have still been some reports of the issue recurring." (Taken from the Freesat statement issued yesterday)

Are they saying that *some* of the reboots are not firmware related but Internet/Freesat server/Freesat app related?

The update was partly intended to deal with the ongoing problems with Showcase/OnDemand access, which do indeed involve Freesat's servers and app. Changes to the servers helped mitigate the problems previously, with no firmware update. So it's not surprising that they've been trying to see if further tinkering might be helpful.

Just prior to seeing your post I was reading the notice on the Freesat website and was wondering the very same thing.

It does look like some of the problems are or have been network related - apart from the loss of display icons and loss (for some) of support for third part wifi adapters. Although we now have the option of reverting to a previously stable (relatively speaking) version of firmware should we so wish.

Have been impressed by the way Freesat/Humax have handled the situation.

Last night I discovered that a Factory Defaults reset is not a conclusive fix for the reboots. After a few days problem-free the box rebooted in the middle of a movie on Film4. Since the lost scene was important, and no rewind buffer after a reboot, the familiar cry went up from my good wife... this stupid box is acting up again. Annoying.

I do realise to each their own. However, all this kerfuffle about Showcase baffles me. I looked at the feature when I first booted up my 1000s around 18 months ago shrugged my shoulders and haven't been near it since.

I have a newspaper or the planner and cannot imagine for one minute why I need an app to suggest what I might like to watch?

What the box or your wife?

Thanks to Humax/Freesat for making the previous version available, although I'm thinking that I might hang on before reverting to see if any improvements are made.

Just for your info, after a day without reboots, last evening my 1010s restarted itself but without the Humax/Freesat banners but there was no text on the TV guide. Restarted it manually was ok for about an hour then rebooted again.
