Thanks for the quick replies. Sorry for the delay - took some time to carry out what was suggested.
Reffub - I checked the first 15 channels from 101 upwards and found that, as you said, the working channels are indeed horizontal and the non-working are vertical. However, I then checked some random channels and found True Movies 1 is working and yet that is vertical (along with Movies 2, Drama & Ent, all V and from the same satellite, yet all working). I'm not sure where that leaves us! [I'm in the London area by the way. Not sure whether that makes any difference to satellite reception apart from the regional variations.] Unfortunately, I don't have the
opportunity at the moment to try another satellite feed. I did ask the management whether any other resident was having trouble but they didn't say they had heard of it - mind you, they don't give much away.
grahamlthompson - I had a look at the channel lists, as suggested by Reffub and you, with the above results. In addition, I carried out the procedures you suggested.
With both cables connected, Signal Info says Good for both Strength and Quality on Tuner 1, but nothing for Tuner 2 (no verbal indication and empty bar graphic); Freesat box connected with 1 cable. On powering off and reversing the cables, same result for Tuner 1, but Tuner 2 first of all showed almost full bars for Strength and Quality but with no verbal indication, and then after a few seconds the bars emptied leaving it as it was previously; still says just 1 cable. This was carried out while tuned into a "good" channel (BBC1).
Afterwards, I changed to a "missing" channel (BBC2 HD) and carried out the procedure again. Tuner 1 says NO SIGNAL with empty bars, and Tuner 2 has empty bars with no verbal indication; only 1 cable connected. Powered off and reversed cables - same result (this time no transitory bars on Tuner 2).
The cables connectors appear quite sturdy and are tightly screwed onto the sockets at the wall plate and at the SAT IN. It appears from the above that both cables are providing a signal. The loss of the channels appears to have happened suddenly.
I hope the above will provide some clues to what is happening and, hopefully, how to sort it out. Thanks.
