I have exactly the same problem as DaveE describes at the head of this discussion when watching recordings - occurs on average once a month on different recordings on different channels. Once the Humax Aura has restarted, the recording replays again from the beginning (I have to FF to get to the point where the box rebooted), but then the recording always plays perfectly to the end. I would be interested to know if this is something that I can fix through settings, updates or resetting, or whether I need to replace the box.

I did this on my Aura a few months back and "touch wood" it has been a bit more stable since doing that, but we still get occasionally crash/reboot.

I am getting the crashing/rebooting on recording playback and even just live watching BBC1 HD in 2024. The Aura is becoming a very unstable tv box. Also pixilation and stuttering in live watching of HD channels.

I found they can be drastically reduced by only using it as a PVR, do your streaming with another box and uninstall/disable as many streaming apps as you can.
As has been mentioned Humax will tell you to do a Reset which will achieve nothing long term, then previously have no other response, today they may say “it will be fixed in the upcoming update”. Hopefully this time that statement will be true as I was told that 2 years ago and no update came.
Problem is unless you can live with 2 tuners there is no alternative.

Yes it seems best to avoid any of the iplayer or other apps unless you hit the restart apps menu item afterwards. Luckily I can use the smart functions on tv upstairs and firestick on tv in living room which has long since gone dumb as smart functions no longer updated.
The stuttering and pixilation during normal viewing are a bit off putting. The rival manhattan box looks more and more appealing!

Watching The listeners last week on BBC1 whilst also recording it at same time. Then it crashed and rebooted itself.
