Hello, I'm new to the forum and to my FreeView Play FVP4000T. I have recorded TV and radio programmes and successfully copied them to my laptop. The video files are excellent allowing my to view at my convenience. My problem is the audio recording from BBC 4, they come over as mp3 but are unplayable on the laptop. The recordings play perfectly well on the FVP. I checked the file on Audacity and the waveform is a mass of high peaks and doesn't reflect the subject matter. Does anyone know what format are the recordings stored in? Many thanks, in anticipation, for any assistance.

    They're mp2.
    Change the extension to mp2.
Some players can also use an extension of mpg.

Excellent, many thanks. Who would have thought that mp2 was still around.

All the audio on SD terrestrial and satellite broadcast channels (and the Audio Description channel on Freesat HD channels) is mpeg 1 layer 2 (aka MP2).
