A few weeks ago I switched on my device and was informed that I would have to format it. I did this although I would lose approx 350/400 GB of data. All was well for a few days but then the same thing happened. Device worked perfectly until about two in the morning then when I switched back on about nine the same message but this time the device did not format. Device is approx 3.1/2 yrs old and on FHTCP 1.03.12.

Guessing you need a new hard drive. Shame you didn't ask before formatting may have been able to rescue your recordings using the custom firmware available for this model.

Even without the Custom Firmware a HDR-FOX-T2 has a FTP server. Using a PC with software like FileZilla you could have copied all your recordings to a PC for safe keeping.

It's a very simple job to fit a new hard drive. After fitting I would install the CF, one of it's options is a Hard Disk check and repair capability.

I fitted one of these into my HDR-1000S recently.

I would suggest using the custom formware to investigate and hopefully fix this problem see the FAQ https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/how-to-fix-hard-drive-and-file-system-problems In the worst case a new hard drive will be required which is not a difficult job.
