    ........

Guessing tuner 2 will only output approx 18 V so unable to switch to approx 13V to get the vertical channels.

Thanks Graham. Loss of vertical was my original thought.

Lightning can cause havoc - a friend had a hit on a exterior metal light fitting - it took out the central heating boiler electronics and caused a lot of other damage. House contents insurance paid up.

Steve - out of interest - what size dish do you use up there. I have a 100cm, I am in 32460. I guess you could get away with an 80cm.

Interesting, looks like tuner 2 is not outputting any DC at all. Tuner 1 is powering lnb and switching recording channel changes the 2nd tuner to only get channels that match the polarisation tuner 1 is using.

Can you check the following to see if tuner 2 is band switching OK, if it's not I have an idea that may allow you to continue to use the box.

Record 108 - can you watch/listen to the following

    146 Challenge
    147 Challenge +1
    165 Forces TV
    750 RTE Radio 1
    751 RTE 2fm
    752 RTE Lyric fm
    753 RTE RnaG
    508 Kiss
    510 Magic

Right - this might at first sight seem an odd thing to do.

Firstly make a note of your recording schedule as you will have to re-enter it. Power off and remove the connection to tuner 2 in.

Now carry out a freesat tune using the postcode of your choice - basically use one that will give you the ITV regions you want to watch.

The box should say one cable connected, however the box has a auto enabled link from tuner 1 to tuner 2 which I hope is still working. This allows both tuners to work using only a single cable.

You may want to consider a single tuner pvr ready box to use the other cable.

This will give you some restrictions on 2nd channel recording and 3rd channel viewing (basically the same as you have now due to tuner 2 not having any lnb control signal capability). There is one big difference because the box knows what recording combinations are possible it will not let you make 2nd recording reservations that are not possible.

You can find more info here.

    https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/what-can-i-record-and-watch-using-1-or-2-cables

Note the G2 boxes are a bit cleverer than the old Foxsat when in single cable mode (eg offering time shifting for any viewable channel)

Note intelligent use of the alternate polarisation BBC regions can often make a specific 2nd channel recordable by selecting a region with matching polarisation. The Excel auto version will work this out automatically.

If you try this I will devise a few checks to make sure the box is fully working.

    Thanks Graham... appreciated.

Do you think that the lightning strike nearby has fried a bit of tuner 2?

I will do as you suggest, but is the freesat tune done by a factory reset? I can't find any menu that allows me to do a retune with a postcode except when doing a factory reset...

Only available when not recording or within 15 mins of accurate recording start.

Settings - right 3 times to more - OK channel Search. Reset connection mode during Channel Search is a feature of the latest software update. Before that Factory Reset or Secret Menu was only way to change connection mode.

The tuner appears to work OK just lacking DC power out and 1kHz tone switching which is why I hope single cable mode will work 100%.

This may help to understand how a universal lnb works.

Single cable mode is a neat idea Graham.

    Steve:
A HB-1100S would make great second unit to supplement the other unit. At a reasonable price as well.
