Have I missed something about a forthcoming update or is this just wishful thinking?

Well, there’s a potential upgrade coming early next year…

Yes though I cannot see how as the thread next to this one was clearly titled "The upcoming system update"

There are a couple of threads that assert that there will be an update, but on what basis?

Reading that thread will answer your question.

In the past there have been quotes from a single Humax employee; this time there are several different employees telling broadly the same story. I suspect it will be an update to the Android version which I think Humax are contractually obliged to do.

Have they done any Android updates so far? If not, why would they be contractually obliged to do now? Don’t get me wrong, would love it if they did do a “big” update but I don’t see what is the reason for them to do so after years of tumbleweed.

I think that any manufacturer who is licensed to use Android is obliged to update the OS at least twice during the lifetime of the product.

Ok. Just wondering what would be the impact on Humax if they just gave a two fingered salute to upgrades of Android?
    Loss of license?

Given that an update to the Android version is likely next year,

    Really?
