Lyndonp: Yes, I installed the YT App and did all of that yesterday (including setting up the linking 12 digit code) and it didn't work. All that happened was that the Humax box opened the Youtube App and the phone was stuck with the spinning wheel icon meaning "please wait". I tried several times and waited quite a few minutes for it to settle and - zilch!
So, I have said - forget it!

Although I addressed your post I was clarifying how to get it from your phone to a Humax device for anybody else who didn’t understand the guy’s suggestion of using a smartphone and fancied trying it.
And BTW, I am using an iPhone which uses iOS. I note somebody said it didn’t work on iOS.

That would be A1944. It was my suggestion. I wonder if the model and software version on his iphone is relevant.

Just remembered Grandsons girlfriend who is working from home has an iphone 11.

It has the same cast list as my tablet and it works exactly the same.

Yes, I didn't say that it didn't work with iOS, just that I couldn't get it to work properly with my iPhone which is an ancient 6s.

Anyway, as my usual YouTube usage is with my ancient laptop, I will not pursue this route any more and hopefully the 5000T App will get sorted for the odd occasions I want to use the bigger (32") screen on my equally ancient TV.

In the meantime, I can always drag the laptop to the TV and use HDMI.

Another way - no need to move the laptop.

Open a youtube video in a Google Chrome window. The cast icon at the top of the screen has both the freesat and FVP box as a destination.

Works in Windows 10. Someone else will have to see if it works on a MAC.

When i go to on demand and choose you tube, go to search a certain film, all the alphabetic letters disappear as soon as I click on one letter. Any help please.

To keep forum tidy, admins have merged posts into this one re the search problem, therefore thread title will be changed slightly to YouTube Issues.

It was a lightbulb moment. I remembered that chrome has built in casting support.

Should really have tried it earlier but as it worked on my android kit until you mentioned a laptop I tried it first thing this morning.

At least we now have viable ways of watching Youtube.
