Hi Barry tried that and get the same error.
I did upgrade to a larger hard disc drive earlier this year.
Would that be causing the problem?
What make, model and size did you use to upgrade.

Not a AV specified drive. Have you still got the original Hard Disk ?
Struggling to find an answer. If you have the original hard drive, and install it, can you flash the CF (or any of the update files you have)
I still have the original drive.
Do you mean swap with original drive, install necessary updates, then put the 1 tb drive back in?
Or do I need to buy a AV specific drive?
In which case, is there any way to transfer the video across?

Interested to find out if you can update with the original drive in the box (try the sys-ID file). You can copy the recording files using one of the usb ports and using a sata drive cradle/dock to connect the drive.
AV specced drives are best for long term reliability, but hard to see why you can't flash from USB.
I also have a second humax machine.
So could I download the software onto that one and then swap disc drives?

You won't be able to play HD recordings made on the 2nd machine as they are encrypted with a key unique to each box.
If you are talking about the CF, if I remember correctly a small part of it is in NVRAM so that will not transfer. Repassac may be able to confirm this.
Yes - the whole firmware goes into NVRAM and then it will then populate the disk.
A strange problem. The filename must be correct to even get the error. It could be a download error, applying the update to the second Foxsat would confirm this, if the error also occurred on it.
I would also try a reset to default and a power cycle before retrying the unit that shows the error. I hate to suggest this but if the error reoccurs after trying these suggestions, I think it could be faulty NVRAM.
Something very strange is going on.
Turned on the spare humax ,which I haven't used for some time.
The screen went to a message saying the disc needed to be formatted and the only option was to press yes.
I, instead, pressed the back button and a message came up saying something to do with a partition.
When I rebooted the disc showed 65% but all the videos had disappeared but the directories remained.
I tried to download the firmware file but this came up with the same error as on the other humax.
I tried a factory reset but this hasn't helped.
I can't understand why I am getting similar problems on two separate machines.
Could it be due to some sort of corrupt auto download file.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.
It could be a defective download. Try downloading again.
