The box should do it for you when you boot it up, that is of course subject to it seeing the drive correctly. If you can't boot it up to the menus it's the only way.

It was the same for me with my PVR, if the recording/schedule menu is missing it is not seeing the hard drive.
In my case the drive simply was not getting any power, didn't spin up etc.

Other than getting Humax to repair the box, there is not much you can do. The issue is now known to be a component failure, though Humax haven't identified the specific item.

Thanks Andy & Graham, It would cost me to get Humax to repair the box as I would have to send it back to the UK from France - so annoying as this is the 2nd box that the drive has crashed on.

I think it is very remiss of Humax to treat their customers so shabbily - I shall now have to start looking at other manufacturers as I have lost all confidence in Humax .

    Thanks for your responses

So they haven't identified the component but can still repair it.
In other words they won't say, but don't expect our boxes to last longer than the warranty.

They have said only a small number of units have the problem.

Simples then, if there are so few why don't they replace or repair them free of charge. Surely this would not cost them a great deal, but it would do loads for their reputation.
